Tacky or not? POLL

Original post by Im InCognito

Is it tacky to on top of a regular registry (china, appliances etc..) to also register for giftcards of $100?

I mean in reality its tacky enough to be telling people what you need and what to buy you (even though we all do it), but to also ask for a specific # of giftcards at a specific amount? Im not sure how i stand on this.

What do you think? Tacky or not?

NOTE: i'm a regular poster but i'm in disguise

I don't see anything wrong with that...it's actually an automatic option to include giftcards on a target registry...but I think that one allows guests to select their own amount..so maybe that aspect of it is tacky (not allowing the guests to select the amount of money on the giftcard)

I think it's super-tacky.....people will give you what they can and do not want to see a pre-determined amount. Just think, they may even want to give you more than the denominations you set up. If they don't want to buy you a gift/pay for shipping, they'll give you cash or buy a gift card on their own.

i dont think it's tacky but i think its unnecessary. we registered at BBB and received a bunch of BBB gift cards as e-party gifts.

we also recieved one to pier 1 it was a little weird because we registered at 3 stores (none were pier 1) and i have never even been to a pier 1, so maybe it was a regift? or maybe the person just loves pier 1?

lol yeah FH and I got a home depot gift card and a target gift card at our E-party lol thoguht that was strange....but i cant even find them now they still have some $$ on them i hope i find that while i am packing lol

Yes, it's tacky. It's periously close to asking for monetary gifts. If someone doesn't want to buy off your registry, he or she can just get gift cards for you from that store.

Not crazy about the idea. Also people LOVE to buy gifts for the mere fact that they want to see you open it!
