Tacky or not? POLL

Is it tacky to on top of a regular registry (china, appliances etc..) to also register for giftcards of $100?

I mean in reality its tacky enough to be telling people what you need and what to buy you (even though we all do it), but to also ask for a specific # of giftcards at a specific amount? Im not sure how i stand on this.

What do you think? Tacky or not?

I dont know... isn't it an understood thing that if you are registered at a store that you'd also like gift cards to that store? I dont think you have to register for that... although I've seen it... but I think its redundant.

Prob a bad idea to register for a specified amount on a gift card. JMO though. It might send the wrong message to people.

I feel the same way. I feel like if someone doesn't want to buy you something off of your registry and are going with a gift card they would more than likely get it for the store you are registered in and it's their decision how much.

Nah, just register for stuff you don't want at BBB and return it for cash.

i registered for gift cards....some people wont be comming and might want to send a gift card instead of paying for shipping on a gift.....or maybe people cant decide on a gift! If you have gift cards on your BBB registry and people buy them for you.......you can cash them out!

I have to agree with the idea that it should be just kind of assumed that if you register at a place you would also be happy to get gift certificates to there. I wouldn't ask for gift certificates with a certain amount of money attached, I feel like it is telling people how much to spend, but that is JMO.

You know what? I had Heather for the secret santa, and she had gift cards, but she had ALL different amounts on there. I think this way, people won't feel like you're only asking for a specific sum of money.

I personally think it's tacky basically for all the reasons that have already been mentioned above. I think it's understood that if you're registered at a specific store, and someone wants to get you a GC, then they'll know what stores you're interested in getting them for since you're already registered at your favorite stores.
I'm being redundant by saying I think it's redundant. LOL

i dont know about other stores but i know to put them on the registry at BBB you have to add them with an ammount. I put 2 of each 25,50,100

i agree. If they are going to get you a GC then they will just get you one.. i would never think to have them to take it off of the registry - so they wouldnt get cash back on me hahaha

i mainly put them on cause i know my dads family is cheap and wouldnt wanna pay to ship an actual gift when they can get a gift card and throw it in a card for 41 cents LOL

i saw a girls registry at work that had 10 $250 gift cards and no other ammounts.....i thought that was messed up lol

I don't know if it's tacky, but I think it's not necessary... I didn't register for gift cards but I got lots of them as gifts anyway (which I was very happy about)... people will get you gift cards whether you register for them or not.

Yeah, I think if you ONLY register for huge amounts, it looks a little tacky... but if you put a variety of prices on there, then people don't feel as if you're only in it for the money...

i dont think it's tacky but i think its unnecessary. we registered at BBB and received a bunch of BBB gift cards as e-party gifts.

we also recieved one to pier 1 it was a little weird because we registered at 3 stores (none were pier 1) and i have never even been to a pier 1, so maybe it was a regift? or maybe the person just loves pier 1?

I think it is okay because most sites have it as an option at the bottom of the page and you have to uncheck it to take it off the list. So for awhile I didn't even realize I had them on my registry! LOL. And I think most people assume it was put on by the store and not you. SO thats why I dont think it is tacky.
