TACKY TACKY TACKY WHY LOOK?

Original post by charlotte227

What is up with some of you ladies on this board? Soneone posts a topic, question, or concern and they don't get a response....yet everyone reads it, that is so sickening and aggrevating...I thought we were on here to help one another....I just had to get that off of my chest....

Charlotte,

Not everyone that looks on the board chats on it either. Alot of people prefer not to chat.

I didn't chat for 2 months before I started. I knew once I did I would be 'addicted' (and I am! LOL) and I think others just don't want to have that happen.

Or it could be that people reply in FM's.

Or that people feel their opinion would not be liked so they choose not to answer.

Sometimes I'm at work and I can't answer asap - I'll try to remember but sometimes I forget.

I don't think it's necessarily that people are just reading the posts and not bothering to answer them.

A lot of times I'm curious about things that are posted, and I read them to learn more. I'm trying to decided on which florists to interview, so instead of starting another thread, I just read ones that have already been posted. Since I'm in CA, I do a lot of my research on here.

I also don't post if what I was thinking was already posted and I can't really add to it, sometimes I just don't have an answer. When posts have the titles 'Dress Question' or something, I open it with the hopes of helping, but I may not be able to in the end. I would rather have lurkers to my threads than be given faulty information just for the sake of posting. JMO.

I cant help but laugh at this post. I remember one time I really needed help with a dress problem, and I think Im safe in assuming that everyone one here will be getting, renting, or borrowing a dress. But noone responded. I felt like it was b.c Im not a crazy post-person, Im not on here all the time, as you can see I have like 300 posts in 6 months!!

But my point is like JimmysBride said someone else, maybe a little more recongized, posts 'Im Addicted' and gets 18 congratulations.

Just my observations

I know I always get offendid... BUT sometimes, i see a post, and i love what's in it but i am too damn lazy to write anything.. and most of the time, someonelse has already said what I wanted to say.. lol..

I don't usually get offended, sometimes i get responses, sometimes I don't.. but I agree with JZ, most times people already say what I am thinking..lol

Maybe we don't always know what to say, sometimes I know that is the case for me, and as far as people getting tons of congrats on being addicted and then not helping when someone posts, it is so easy to say 'CONGRATS' and some situations are just hard to advise on!

GUILTY! Sometimes I think the topic is one thing and it's another (in my defense)

i think some have learned the 'if you have nothing nice to say don't say it...'

That's one of the things I absolutely hate about this board. People ask for opinions on stuff, and everyone just fakely gloats about how much they love it. The truth hurts, but sometimes it can save someone from doing something stupid.

oh please, if i give my honest opinion at times i will be flamed... some people here are so sensitive and can’t take 'constructive criticism' or an opinion that differs from his/her own…

thats a fact

although it is a fact, we shoulnd't have to worry about being flamed for saying the wrong thing. if i really don't like something or don't agree w/ an idea, i do post my opnion. why ask for opinions if you're going to be offended if someone disagrees?

ETA: i try to help out and offer advise where i can. other times i choose to keep my mouth shut in fear of the troops attacking me.

honestly, what would be the point in telling someone 'oh, your hair looks great, love the dress, or great idea' if i truely did not agree? i think many brides (although they would not admit it) are guilty of this

I usually won't post if I disagree, or if I don't like an idea. I'm not afraid of getting flamed, it's just that I try to keep in mind that everyone's taste is different. I would never say someone's dress is ugly, or their hall is a dump. What's the point? One thing I don't agree with is nastiness disguised as 'honesty'.

no one ever said we had to respond to every post... these boards would be overflowing

sometimes i just keep my mouth shut

that is what i have learned...not to post if i disagree...

i find that i am in the minority on these boards 99.9% of the time and my style of critiquing something is rather different. in my eyes rarely is something 'perfect' and a simple yes/no or like it/don't like it is not helpful. i have found if people attempt to qualify their 'negative' responses they are offending someone else. my intention is never to offend another person, it is to share my personal views and experiences...aka take it or leave it...

i welcome all opinions as i am the ultimate decision maker and feel confident in my choices. at the same time i may have overlooked something and value someone else’s expertise in a particular domain. there are pros and cons to everything, i wish they were disclosed more...

it just sucks how you want to share your personal experience...isnt' that what this is about...

i post depending negative depending on the converstation and people involved. i've learn my listen from my first encounter of this (sharing your experience) thing

You do have to worry about what you say on here because people can really turn on you if you really give the truth. I know I have given what I believe is good advise on many topics and then I was told I was a vendor because I MENTIONED MY FAVORITES TO OFTEN I DID SAY I DID NOT LIKE A CERTAIN CATERING HALL ONCE AND EVERYONE TOLD ME TO KEEP MY OPION TO MYSELF

I wouldn't get too worked up over it.
It's just a message board - alot of time I will see a topic and am curious about the question/post so I will open it - after I open it, I realize that I have absolutely no input (such as: 'can you tell me the name of a hair stylist in Nassau County' - I don't know any!) and don't respond.
Don't take it personally - I think that for the most part, when someone has good advice or thinks that they can help, they will!

Everyone is different. Some people reply to every single post and some reply to the ones that interest them or that they can give some useful input too (that's me!) and some just never reply. What can we do?

I sometimes feel the same way, I have found that with a lot of the questions I have posted get very little responses, and it does frustrate me, then a day or two later, someone will ask a similar question and it gets like 30 responses!!! Is it me??? Did I do something?? Ohhh, sounds like I got self esteem issues!!! Anyway I feel your frustration!!
