Tag Sale / Garage Sale

Is it true that you are not allowed to have a tag sale and a garage sale at the same time?

If I have a tag sale will I still be able to sell little items that I would normally sell at a garage sale?

Tag sales are different than Garage sales. For tag sales you would usually hire someone to run the sale. You would ooen up your house and have people come inside so you can sell furniture and bigger items that you do not want to lug outside. If certain items are Antiques the tag sale person can tell you how much they are worth and put a price on that item.

Anyone else know?

I never heard that before, but I wouldn't think it's illegal but maybe confusing. How do you pay the tag sale person? Is it a percentage of sales? THat could be hard to track.

I believe it is a percentage. My mother doesnt want to do it herself...I tried to convince her that it may get confusing and expensive but she is very stubborn. I dont want to have to give this person any of my money....

I told her to call an antique store and have them come look at your stuff to appraise it before contacting the tag sale person, but does she listen to me, no!!

I would keep them seperate then - you do not want to pay this tag sale person for anything that falls into the garage sale category.

I don't think people looking to buy antique furniture will necessarily be interested in garage sale items and vice versa.

I agree with you though - I would just do it on your own. But mom's are like that. Mine will pay someone to do the simplest task. What can you do? It's her money.

Tag sale is same as estate sale then?

when i was out to lunch i saw a sign 'estate/garage sale' with an address... so people DO do them together. So it might be a personal preference (or this person doesn't know its a law if it is)
