Is anyone staying (or have you stayed) in Tahiti more than one night before going onto one of the other islands? FH seems to think that we'd be fine just going to Tahiti the whole time and none of the other islands.
We are not interested in a nightlife, just beautiful beaches and overwater bungalows. I think I really rather just go to Bora Bora or Moorea if we are going to go at all.
If you had to choose just one -- Bora Bora or Moorea -- which would it be and why?
Also, if you don't mind sharing -- how long are you going for and around how much were you quoted for your package and are you staying in an overwater bungalow??? You can FM prices if you prefer.
THANKS!!

Re: Tahiti Honeymooners - come in please!
If you choose to stay at only one island, I recommend Bora Bora - skip Tahiti totally!
I did a complete review of my honeymoon trip which will give you lots of information plus pictures:
Also do a search in this forum and under the Newlyweds, there have been many posts on Tahiti and its islands and costs.
We did not do a package, we booked things ourselves and at the last minute so I don't think my pricing would be helpful.

I agree - you definitely don't want to stay in Tahiti any longer than you have to. We're staying one night, but only b/c we have a super early flight the next morning. We went all out on the HM, staying at Tahaa Pearl Beach Resort (beach bungalow) for 3 nights, then Bora Bora Nui (overwater bungalow) for 3 nights. Then, off to New Zealand for a week. We used a travel agent specializing in honeymoons b/c we have such a complicated itinerary, but I have heard that Costco has fantastic French Polynesia deals (would probably have gone through them if we were just doing Tahiti).

Re: Tahiti Honeymooners - come in please!
We used www.funcompanies.com and got a great deal. DH found the best way. He looked at another site, www.tahiti.com for a good package that he liked and then spoke with Tracie at the travel agency about them. DH also took out the activities and the meal plan.
We stayed at the Intercontinental Beachcomber in overwater bungalows on all 3 islands (tahiti, moorea and bora bora) for 11 days. 1 night in tahiti, 4 in moorea and 5 in bora bora. it was beyond amazing!! i believe we paid around 8K for all of it, minus the flight to and from LA. In case you're interested, our package was the Tahitian Interlude (you can find it on tahiti.com)
Bora Bora was definitely the best .. they get better and better if you go in that order. We were in awe of the place and can't wait to go back.
FM me for more info - i have tons.

Re: Tahiti Honeymooners - come in please!
I'm a tahiti honeymooner but i dont know much - FH knows more because he is in charge of it all!
With respect to the islands - only stay at tahiti for one day tops - we are because flights sometimes require a stay over plus i get to do shopping!
We are definitely staying at Bora Bora - bec we are planning on staying for 12-14 days we may add on Moorea also.
Fh's brother went there for his honeymoon - and they LOVED Bora Bora and recommended staying at an overwater bungalow there.
I'll get more info and post -

Re: Tahiti Honeymooners - come in please!
try to be on tahiti for at least some part of the day if you plan on buying any souveniers or pearls. it's the cheapest place to get them. everything is much more expensive on moorea and bora bora.
