We stayed in an overwater in Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora at the Intercontinental Hotels. They were amazing! Great service and locations.

Re: Tahiti hotels
I have heard great things about the Intercontinental...
A lot of the travel agents told us that the Pearl Resorts are in need of an update....

Re: Tahiti hotels
While everybody is going to have their own opinion on this, after numerous hours of research, I've learned the following:
On Moorea the Sheraton appears to have the best overwater bungalow experience and snorkeling, though the service has been reputed to be spotty at times. The Inter-continental may be a step up in service, but is supossedly more kid-friendly (which may not be good for a honeymoon).
On Bora Bora, the Bora Bora Nui is reputed to be the most grand and luxurious, but the views and service are supposedly somewhat lacking compared to some of the other resorts. The Hotel Bora Bora is, by far, the most well-known and respected, supposedly has the best service, and nicest accomodations in a more understated way than the Nui.
Not surprisingly, these hotels are the most expensive. Check out this message board for more info.

Re: Tahiti hotels
Not to be rude but, I don't know why everybody takes someone's question and turns it into a springboard to voice their own honeymoon plans. I think the question was 'what are the best hotels in Bora Bora and Moorea,' not 'where are you staying.'
Okay - I guess that was rude.

Re: Tahiti hotels
we stayed at the intercontinental in moorea and felt that it was the best on the island -- it seemed more lush adn better situated than the sheraton.
In bora bora, we stayed at both le meridian and hotel bora bora. Le meridian was gorgeous but there were a lot of people there -- you don't feel as secluded as you would on the other hotels. Also, the water is not the best for snorkeling. Hotel Bora Bora was the best imo -- the snorkeling was amaing, it was very secluded and the rooms were amazing -- the downfall is that it costs an arm and a leg -- which is the reason we split our stay between the two hotels.
If you have specfic questions about the hotels, fm me - hope this helps!

Re: Tahiti hotels
We stayed at the Pearl in Bora Bora and chose it because we felt it was the best resort for us in terms of price, location, accomodations and service. Depending on where you look it's rated anywhere from a 4 star to a 5 star. Good luck in your search!

If you thought it was rude, then why, especially after your 12th post, did you send it? Clearly, and this seems rather obvious, the reason these brides-to-be 'voiced their own honeymoon plans' is because wherever they are staying is in all liklihood where they consider the best place to stay. JMO but if you feel your post is rude, perhaps ypou shouldn't hit the 'send' button, particularly since you haven't really communicated with these girls all that much (being your 12th post and all).

Re: Tahiti hotels
Now that was definitely rude.
I don't want to belabor the subject but, just because someone stays at a hotel, in no way means that it is the best hotel. I've stayed at many a hotel that I know was not the best for one reason or another. Nothing wrong with that.
Also, while everybody has a right to their opinion, the person who posed the question, I believe, wanted an objective answer. She's trying to plan the best honeymoon she can. People chiming in as to where they stayed without any further information or qualification is probably only doing this girl a disservice and is being unresponsive.

Bora Bora Nui (in Bora Bora of course) is amazing and the most luxurious!

We stayed at the Beach Comber Intercontinental in Moorea and the Bora Bora Lagoon resort in Bora Bora.
Both were amazing!

Re: Tahiti hotels
And for the record we didn't see children at any of the resorts. It isn't a very family type vacation.

Re: Tahiti hotels
Bora Bora Nui is the most expensive in Bora Bora. We stayed at the Le Meridien there adn thought it was exceptional (and expensive *lol*) When we went there werent a lot of people there - it was so secluded and private - i wish i was there now!
On Moorea - we stayed at the Intercontinentla (which is supposedly the only 5 star hotel on Moorea). It was nice but I dont think it was 5 star - Personally the beach water was murky and if we go back to Moorea I would probably stay at the Sheraton. I guess i also didnt like it htat the Intercontinental felt more 'Americanized' when compared to the Le Meridien in Bora Bora - which felt more exotic. JMO
ETA: We did see children at the Intercontinental - there were families from new Zealand there (obviously because it is so close. In fact we got stuck going on a sunset cruise with a family with 2 young children. I found it very odd that the Intercontinental requred 4 person minimum for a Catamaran cruise. Not very romantic - but i guess the view was still breathtaking

Re: Tahiti hotels
Let me re-phrase my post since newbie babydoc is offended.
After a lot of research, from what I can tell, Starwood Properties seem to get a lot of good reviews, and especially the Bora Bora Nui. Those are the hotels I have chosen -Sheraton Tahiti, Sheraton Moorea and Bora Bora Nui. Oh wait - that's right - I'm not supposed to share my honeymoon plans....Oh well...

Re: Tahiti hotels
Testy testy. I wasn't offended Backinnewyork, and, of course, everyone is free to share their honeymoon plans. But you have to admit that your reformulated response is much more informative for snowprincess. And, I also agree that the Starwood properties (especially the Nui) are at the top of the heap with maybe a few others.
I also find it funny that I'm ostracized for being a newbie. That's gotta be some sort of illegal discrimination.

Re: Tahiti hotels
Yes, it was extremely rude.
I would assume people are choosing a hotel for their honeymoon because it is nice and that is why they would recommend it...
