Now that was definitely rude.

I don't want to belabor the subject but, just because someone stays at a hotel, in no way means that it is the best hotel. I've stayed at many a hotel that I know was not the best for one reason or another. Nothing wrong with that.

Also, while everybody has a right to their opinion, the person who posed the question, I believe, wanted an objective answer. She's trying to plan the best honeymoon she can. People chiming in as to where they stayed without any further information or qualification is probably only doing this girl a disservice and is being unresponsive.

I have to say, this post of yours makes no sense Babydoc. People who stayed in those hotels probably can offer the best advice as to their quality and for people who have selected those hotels, they can explain why they selected them.

It seems like you have contributed nothing to this post to help the bride looking for hotels in Tahiti so I wonder how you feel you have the right to criticize other posts.

Well as far as the best...there are definitely options and I can't say this for certain since my brochure is not with me right now, but probably any of the 5 stars are really good. Each just might have a slightly definitely aspect that might be important to you.

But the one thing I wanted to definitely mention, a travel agent told me the Pearl Resorts will be renovating during April / May. Not sure when these renovations would be completed, but you'd definitely want to ask about that, if you were to even consider them. You don't want to be there when a bunch of work is going on.

I noticed you referred to her as newbie baby doc. Shouldn't it just be newbie baby?

I don't disagree with that, but, the people who stayed in those hotels should offer ADVICE as to their quality and why they selected them - not just say - I stayed at [insert hotel], without anything futher.

While you may disagree, I believe my response provided much more information than those who merely offered where they stayed. I gave my qualification (after much research), I gave the names of the hotels I've heard are the best and why, and I directed her to a website with more info. For you to say that I didn't contribute anything is idiotic.

Testy testy. I wasn't offended Backinnewyork, and, of course, everyone is free to share their honeymoon plans. But you have to admit that your reformulated response is much more informative for snowprincess. And, I also agree that the Starwood properties (especially the Nui) are at the top of the heap with maybe a few others.

I also find it funny that I'm ostracized for being a newbie. That's gotta be some sort of illegal discrimination.

Um-you really should stick to doctoring babies and leave the lawyering to the lawyers on here, including myself, Jamie (Jamieandmarksept05) and a few others. To ostracize a clueless, argumentative, self righteous, holier than thou newbie who is chastising REAL members on here who have actually HELPED many brides to be on here quite a lot is NOT discrimination!!!

Collen - A) I am a lawyer - my fiance is the doctor; B) the discrimination comment was said jokingly; C) I'm not chastising 'real' members - i'm chastising their comments. Get a life - that's chastising you personally.

Re: Tahiti hotels

snowprincess805, I cannot speak for which are the best hotels in those locations, I can only speak to the ones I stayed at since we didn't check out any of the other hotels while we were there. I will explain WHY we loved the hotels so I don't get in trouble and of course to help you, which is the purpose of LIW.

- Le Meridien - Bora Bora - was absolutely gorgeous! I think it is the only hotel on the islet off the main island. Although you have to take a ferry over to the main island to go to the restaurants, its a short, nice ride. There were a TON of free water sports - snorkeling, kayaking, etc. - you can go to their website and see the list. There was an enormous glass floor in our over the water hut - some of the hotels we heard only had a little hole you could look through, theirs was awesome! There were decks on all of the OTW huts which you can jump off and go swimming/snorkeling and of course sit outside at night and drink some champagne . There are also many excursions you can book through the hotel.
Le Meridien Hotel Website

- Intercontinental Beachcomber Moorea - The grounds were beautiful-so many exotic flowers! The hotel arranged for us to go to dinner outside the hotel, with no problems - you sign up at the front desk and a cab arrives to take you free of charge.

(Cut off post - Continued)

Tons of water sports- again, snorkeling and kayaking. The dolphin discovery is there too, which we saw from our beach bungalow. Sunset is gorgeous from where we were and the staff was very nice.

I hope this helps you, please feel free to FM me with questions or if you want me to send you pictures.

WOW-you really told me off, fiancee to 'baby doc!' It didn't seem at all to me as if you were kidding about the discrimination comment because your 12 prior posts were so chasting and uptight!! I mean, butting in when no one has ever heard from you with a comment criticizing someone for not explaining the reasons behind their hotel choice TO YOUR SATISFACTION!! Yet you have the audacity to tell ME to 'get a life.' I will leave off by saying that I don't know one lawyer worth his or salt who would say that something which is CLEARLY NOT legal discrimination is discriminatory. Intelligent, highly educated, admitted to practice lawyers don't make legal conclusions that are so blatantly false and incorrect!!

Re: Tahiti hotels

Whether you believe me or not, that's up to you. The thought of someone seriously thinking that there can be legal discrimination against a newbie on a message board is so absurd that I thought for sure, people would realize that it was a joke.

Anyway - we've gone so far off course here it's ridiculous. My original post was simply to say that I think it is far more productive for someone to give substantive advice as to why they think a certain hotel is the best than to simply state where they are staying. While FireIslandLove somewhat mocked me (which I'm fine with), you have to admit that her post was extremely informative and much more useful than someone's post that simply states where they stayed.

Let's all move on. I'll try to be the bigger person here. If any of you took my post as a personal attack, I'm sorry.

Geez-I was ready for a real lashing when I saw that you responded to me and I read instead a response that is mature, reasonable, and rationale?!!! what a low blow!!! LOL Well-I guess you are the bigger person. I am sorry for my part in this and if there were an icon of a bride waving a white flag, I would insert it ---HERE---. With the occasional drama that occurs on these boards (and I am clearly guilty of that today, I'm afraid) I think Ron and Liz ought to think about adding on to the icon selection. Truce?

I LOVE THAT BABY DOC!! That was cool of you. Welcome to the boards! (Let's erase today's history between us from the board's memory, shall we?). How are the wedidng plans coming along?

Re: Tahiti hotels

Wedding plans are coming along fine. Thanks for asking.

What type of firm is Morris Duffy et al? (FYI - I'm calling your partner and telling him how much time you spend on this site :)

I used to work in your building about 7 years ago.

Re: Tahiti hotels

You little sleuth! I don't think my partners at MD would care since I haven't worked there for about 2 years!! How did you get my info from mOrris Duffy? When you say you worked in that building years ago are you referring to 170 Broadway or 2 rector St? Morris Duffy moved to 2 Rector about 2 years ago. Where do you work?

babydoc Posted:

Re: Tahiti hotels

:) The Attorney Red Book on my desk is a very useful tool. It's the 2005 book and indicates that you still work there - may want to have that info updated if you've moved on.

I was at 2 Rector Street. I've since moved on and I'm at a very large firm putting in way too many hours.
Colleen Hines Posted:

Re: Tahiti hotels

sounds painful. What kind of hours? (I'm afraid to ask!). Which lawfirm are you working for?

babydoc Posted:

Re: Tahiti hotels

Man - I'm going to lose my newbie status on this conversation alone

My hours vary, but are generally 8:30 - 7:30ish with occasional weekends. Of course there are those round the clock work sessions.

As far as the name of the firm - anonymity is a beautiful thing. Please don't take that as an insult.
Colleen Hines Posted:

Re: Tahiti hotels

anonymity is indeed a beautiful thing! No worries at all. I completely understand! When I first logged onto this site (and I can't remember how I learned of it!) I quickly typed in my name while I was busy at work. Little did I realize that it would be my user name for all the world (ok-that's an exaggeration-make that all the NYC/LI bridal world) to see! I guess if I was ultra concerned about it I would change it but it might be a little late now!! Oh well-live and learn! At first I thought these boards were ridiculous and I have been as of late, slowely SUCKED IN (what's that famous line from the Godfather-'they keep pulling me back in'-something along those lines!) I have come to acquire however, VERY useful information-how to make votive placecards, ideas for my church programs, limo info and vendors to use/avoid. If you need any info, feel free to FM (that's LIW lingo for email, as I'm sure you learned by now!). There is a ton of useful information on here that has helped me a great deal. I'm alwyas willing to help a felllow LIW bride especially when she is a fellow attorney. What kind of law do you practice?
