Re: Tahiti/Bora Bora
Direct flight from NY was 12 hours. OWB are great but very expensive. In order to save money we only stayed in an OWB while in Bora Bora. We stayed in a garden bungalow while in Moorea.
We stayed at the Moorea Sheraton and the Bora Bora Pearl.

Re: Tahiti/Bora Bora
HI all! I am new here and am beginning the planning of my Tahiti honeymoon in December of 2007! I am really confused! It seems like this thread is really old and has alot of information! Is this the best place to post my questions or on another one? It took so long to get to the end!
Anyway, we want to go to Bora Bora, Moorea and maybe a third island. I have started trying to plan this myself but it's so confusing!
Does anyone know anything about the Sheraton in Moorea and the Intercontinental Thalasso in Bora Bora? How about a third island. We like to mix with the locals so we are looking for a place with some authenticity at the end. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I hope this question isn't too personal but what should i expect to pay for a trip like this? Just a ballpark figure? It seems so expensive.

minimum $6K. Closer to $8K if you want to stay in an OWB or beach bungalow.

Sounds awesome... seems reasonable for what you're getting

Re: Tahiti/Bora Bora
Seems like all my quotes are coming in around $10,000. But we are staying overwater and have some meals included. Gosh it's so expensive! But from what I can see everything looks so beautiful! This is our trip of a lifetime so we are willing to pay for it.
Anyone been to the Thalasso or the Le Moana Intercontinental resorts? The Le Moana is giving free meals so we were wondering about the beach there. Or even the Hotel Bora Bora? We are all over the place with our choices in Bora Bora! There are so many beautiful places to stay! Right now I am concentrating on getting a good travel agent. Have talked to a few and finally found a Tahiti Specialist through the tourism board. She is really helpful so far. We have narrowed down Moorea and are pretty set on the Sheraton.

Re: Tahiti/Bora Bora
the le moana is also an ic hotel right?
We went there- we took a boat there from teh IC Thalasso spa.
the thalasso spa is on a private motu whereas the le moana and the hotel bora bora are on the main island..
i think the thalasoo is much nicer and the le moana is more on the 'traditional french polynesian' side, which is just as lovely but the thalasso was not like any other resort we have stayed at!
good luck- whatever u choose, it will be amazing.

Thanks so much! Yeah the Le Moana is an Intercontinental resort too. I guess that's where the boat from the Thalasso takes you. Did you find it to be more crowded on the island? We want some privacy but also want to be able to get to the island easily.
thanks! evon

no, neither were crowded. it is very easy to get back to the main island. thalasso has boats that run every half hour or hour to take you back and forth. we went to bloody mary's for dinner one night and it was no problem. we took the boat to the le moana and then bloody mary's picked us up and took us to the restaurant. it was great!
u will have privacy either way

Thanks so much again! That's good news! We also want to go to Bloody Marys! Was it really expensive? We have heard that most everything is. Did you go to Villa Mahana? Apparently it is a pretty expensive restaurant too, but hey, it's our honeymoon! Our travel agent says she can reserve a table in advance for us. Just curious. Thanks again for the info about the boat transfers. We are booking this week. I don't know if I'll be able to wait!

Thanks for the heads up about Bloody Mary's. My travel agent says Villa Mahana is really great. Glad to hear you enjoyed it! We are going to make a reservation as soon as we are booked!
