Taking Engagement Pictures
The packages that we're looking at includes an engagement picture session. However, FH and I really don't want to take them. Therefore, I was going to ask the photographer if we could substitute this with more pages in the wedding album. Or do you guys think we should take the engagement pictures to test out the work of the photographer?

Re: Taking Engagement Pictures
I would ask for more enlargements. You will use those more than pages in the album.

I don't think you will get a lot of extra pages for your engagment session since it doesn't really cost them much to do the ephotos.I wasn't planning on doing ephotos at first but I think its a great way to see how your photographer works, feel more comfortable with the style of photos and also get a nice set of photos of you two in casual dress. When else are you going to have a pro photographer take photos?
I have used my ephotos for a lot (my STD cards, website, programs, CD covers, etc..) so Im really glad i did them.

Thanks guys! I guess adding pages isn't such a good idea. Maybe I'll ask for more enlargements or I'll need to get the more expensive package that includes the outdoor engagement pictures. The one we were going with is in the studio and we didn't want to do that because we didnt want to end up with yearbook-like photos.

Re: Taking Engagement Pictures
It took me over a year but I finally took my engagement photos! I am glad I did because it was a good way to get to know your photographer. Since my wedding is in Oct and I still haven't picked up the proofs, I obviously didn't use them for anything but getting to know him.My brother got married last month and used the same studio as I did and didn't take his e-pictures instead he is getting extra enlargements. The studio at time of booking said it could be substituted for that.

Blushingbride- Are you using Spelman studios? That sounds like her package. I didn't like that either. If we were going to go with her I was going to see if she could just add that in or ask how much extra it would be for location shoot. She seemed like she would work with you. I thought her high end package was just way over our budget. We decided to go with Imagine anyway especially after he dropped the price down by $300 and we are not paying tax with them so it saves alot.Welcome New Vendors
