Anyone ever get braids done on the islands before? I got 2 in when I went for my HM and now I want to take them out.
The lady said I should put conditioner in them when I take it out, but can I just take it out without conditioner? like, on dry hair?

You can but the conditioner will prevent knots...

omg i swore i'd never do that again lol I had my hair braided down in the DR and it was the worst. It took FOREVER to take them all out and my hair was so gross for weeks after. I'd def. use something while taking them out. My hair felt like it was ripping out of my head.
but thats just in my experience

my hair was pretty bad for awhile after i took them out too just very frizzy

You can take them out w/ dry hair and just wash the frizz out. I used to braid my hair all of the time for waves.
Did they also put string in it?

they put beads on the bottom.
I just took it out w/ dry hair and now I'm sitting w/ deep conditioner just on those sections. It looked pretty scary when I took the braids out- like poodle hair!

When I went to Jamaica a few yrs back I had afull head I just took them out dry.

When i was 12 i went to the Bahamas with my mom and go my whole head done. I remember that it took a long time to take them out and my head was one giant frizzy mess. It actually looked very high fashion now that i think of it!

Lol, poodle hair. You must've had small braids. You'll be fine once you throw you head under water and use shampoo & conditioner.
You're supposed to wash it out unless you are purposely braiding it for the waves. It is kinda high fashion if you know about braiding. I have really straight hair so it's the best way to crimp it evenly. I braid it a certain way, not tiny braids.
Braids don't tangle your hair unless you add string. It also doesn't damage your hair. Don't believe the myths.
