I was thinking about this yesterday. I would like to take pictures outside before the ceremony, but my dress has a train. Doesn't the dress and my shoes get dirty? How are you girls dealing with this?

Re: Taking pics outside with dress with train
I would suggest walking out on a sheet. Then someone can pick it up and get it out of the shot once you're 'in position' for your pics. You could also cover your shoes with bags while you're outside, they'll be under the dress anyway so you won't see them in the pics.

I'm going to wear platform flip flops for the beach pics before the ceremony...

I know when I had my pictures done, I had a cathedral veil (which is verrrrry long!) but my sister held it or I was able to hold it, until I was in position and it was spread out.
We did the same for my SIL's wedding - I held her train up for her - everyone will be helping you that day, and I mean everyone!

That's what BM's and MOH's are for!

Re: Taking pics outside with dress with train
i had my seamstres sew a small 'hook' made of thread -- whenever i walked, i placed my finger in my hook and was able to lift my dress and not have it touch the floor. It does get a bit dirty anyhow (inevitable) but its barely visible since it mostly gets dirty underneath

I was thinking about (and worried about) the same thing.

Re: Taking pics outside with dress with train
I took a lot of my pictures outside in the dirty melting snow and walking around duck poop by the water. I brought a pair of boots with me (they'll never know what you have on under there!), but I never put them on. I was so nervous about letting my dress down. I held it up a lot over my arm and you see some of the crinoline underneath in pictures but that's OK. There were shots of DH holding my dress up too which were cute. When I finally got brave enough to put it down, it did get dirty, and this was all before my ceremony. My bridal attendant at the hall got out the club soda when I got there and everything came off and looked great again for the ceremony.
ETA: the loops the seamtress can add to hold up your dress are helpfull, but pulling on it all night, especially if the dress is heavy, will likely cause it to snap. Have them do double duty on the thread there if youplan on really using it.

Good question -- I was wondering the same thing.

Re: Taking pics outside with dress with train
jenn (the hair genie) gave me an AWESOME tip during my last trial. she told me to bring a white sheet to old west. gardens so i can place it on the ground and stand on it. my moh is going to just gather the sheet under my dress so that it doesn't show for the pics. it may be a bit time consuming but will be better than trying to get the mud off right before the ceremony!
