Is there anyone else paying for the wedding with FH alone? I am paying for the wedding with no help Its ok my parents really cant help and I thought that FH and I would be able to do it alone. BUT that was almost 2 years ago and now with the economy the way it is...things are really hard for us.
How are you guys handling money issues? Fh and I dont go out at all which is hard because we love to do it. I dont spend any extra money, which is super hard for me because I love to shop!
I still have a lot of things to do for the wedding: invites favors BM gifts GM gifts bunch of other little stuff
How are you guys doing it?

We are paying for ours alone too. It stinks!!!! I really am starting to freak out about how to pay for everything. I really don't know how it's going to happen. I don't want to take a loan but I'm getting to the point where I think I might have to. ARGH! We've saved for 2 years (1000 total per month) but that barely makes a dent. It's so depressing. I just read the regret post...I am starting to regret all the expensive things I've done like flowers and my reception hall. Although it's going to be a dream come true it's a very expensive one.

I also did the same, i didn't shop at all unless it was something i NEEDED not wanted. Probably during the planning bought something if i needed it for work or winter boots but thats about it and if i had to buy a gift for somebody.
We also used to eat out all the time and then had to stop during the planning.

I decided that I kept my Credit Card at home. I used to buy thing for no reason whatsoever and my bill would be like $400. Now every mth since Dec my bill has been $60 which is my gym. I really have saved tons of money.
I want to do what Espo does with eating out but its so hard b.c I love to eat out with FH, but now when we go out we make sure its cheap and also we order no drinks which saves tons of money as well. But soon I think I am going to give that up and start eating out over my FIL and my parents house so we truly do save money!

during the planning, and especially as it got closer we did alot of blockbuster nights lol, watch movies at home, make dinner and have drinks at home. But like on saturdays during the daytime we would go out and do things, run our errands and if anything go out to eat lunch since its usually cheaper

we r paying alone as well and we r just taking it step by step..saving all we can and paying off one thing at a time...we def cut back on things but it will bne all worth it

We are paying for a HUGE amount ourselves! not the total amount (that would soo be impossible). Our goal was to save at least 35,000! it's soooo hard!
FH works 2 full time jobs! It's grueling and horrible... but we manage to get through it. And even with that... it's a struggle to save!

I am paying for the wedding mostly. FH is helping a bit but he was so good to me when I was going to school that I felt like this was my way to do my part. I have not changed my spending much but I was on a tight budget when I was in school so I just continued that but now I am lucky enough to have a great job otherwise it would be a real struggle for us.

We are also paying for everything ourselves. We started saving for the wedding yrs ago and are very smart with money. We're great savers. I didnt go crazy with my invites, not really thrilled with them but they end up in the trash anywyas so Im not stressing. Luckily we got a package deal with our RH and wedding plaza that includes everything, of course little stuff here and there we would have to pay extra for but it hasnt been too bad. Luckily, my FH has a really great job (works crazy hours though) so it helps us out a lot financially.

We paid for everything ourselves. I did A LOT of diy projects. We stopped eating out. Since I live in Queens, we started taking the train to work instead of driving which helped us save on the tolls, gas and parking. We didn't buy anything for ourselves. Even when Xmas came, we only bought things for our son. Not even our parents. Also, I understand that your wedding is a once in a lifetime event and it should definitely be exactly or as close to what you want, but just take a step back and maybe re-evaluate what things you may be able to do without.
For me, I am not a big flower person, so only decided to get flowers for the bo-k's and bouts. For my centerpieces I used blue orchids that were $5 for a bunch that consisted of about 10 stems and did the centerpieces myself. I went to my local florist. I have noticed that when you deal with big vendors you tend to spend Alot more and that's not a bad thing because i'm sure you're getting you money worth. I'm just using this as an example of how I cut costs.
I know it's hard especially at this time. DH and I didn't think our wedding was going to happen. EVERYTHING really came down to the very last second. Trying to pay for a wedding AND still maintain your home life is very hard but you will get through it and will have one of the happiest times of your life.

we are paying for our wedding and its extremely hard. This wedding is costing us a lot of $$$. It started as a very small affair to now a larger event and spotting this ourselves. We're making a lot of sacrifies since we used to go out a lot and like the party scenes and all. On top of that we have a mortgage and car notes but were managing....thanks to the one above.... I trust we'll be alright

We are paying for more then 90% of it on our own. My Mom paid one payment on the RH and that's it. lol. It's sooo hard. I can't WAIT to go shopping just for ME! lol. I've been doing TONS of DIY... getting things on sale and always using coupons. We save a set amount each week from our pay check..and weeks that we can do more, we throw more into our savings. We just take one vendor at a time. And, just so we don't end up spending it, we'll pay small amounts to the vendors just to get that much closer to our goal. So far we only have limos, RH, and DJ left. We're hoping to have them all paid off within the 2nd week of March...then at least we'll be stressfree the last few weeks before the wedding...well...stressfree from money.. LOL

We are paying for the entire wedding ourselves. Both of our parents can't afford to help. In fact, both of us help our parents pay for some bills every month. It's really hard but we pray and have faith and try to keep the wedding in perspective. We are blessed with wonderful family and friends and still have our jobs during this tough economy. So we feel really fortunate to have all of them there on our wedding day to celebrate!

I hate that I am finally getting married and the economy is on a down turn. My boss has been behind on payroll, I have been getting 1 check a month!!! Can you imagine? How do you pay for a wedding when you arent getting paid. My boss is a JERK! FH and I have scaled back on going out, we try to rent movies more and if we are going to eat out maybe do a diner or something low key and cheap! We will all be better for it in the end, GO 09 LIW girls!!

Im paying for our wedding by myself my FH is finishing up his last year at law school so he cant work, but here is what i have been doing to save some money, i printed my own invites i got them at michaels, i used a coupon i got online. I m making my own favors. Original CD's with supplies i got at staples w/coupon and i cut out on the amount of flowers and types to bring the cost down. If you need any more ideas let me know i will forum mail you some others that have popped into my head Hope to Help!!

We are grateful to have my family help out!! FH family is always crying broke specially his mother.. His dad offer to take care of the HM but its still to see. We should know by next weekend.
We are still paying at least 10K out of our pocket!! Its hard!!
I've been trying to cope by not going shopping.. But we still go out to eat every weekend..
I paid for the invites this weekend. yayyy
I still need: MOH Dress Junior BM/GM Gifts for all flowers!! (My Family) DJ (My Family) Photo (My Family) My dress to pay off!!
I'm a little behind but it will all fall into place by next week.. I'll be handling all that with my familly and I hope it becomes successful!!

we are paying for it ourselves. we started saving a year before we got engaged wihich was the smartest thing we couldve done because we started with enough money to pay all our deposits.
we banked all tax checks, and bonuses
i am working after school to get extra money, last year i was working tues-saturday after school which helped.
fh is an avid poker player so that helps (depends on the day)
we are also refinancing ...oh yeah we have a house and a mortgage to pay as well, which is rrreaaallllyyy tough. if we didnt have the mortgage we would be having an insane wedding,
however, i stil think we will have a great wedding, i have sacrificed some and have cam e in under budget with some vendors.
