Ok be prepared for FINALLY a long update on my life!!
For those who are new... I'm in the military and have been stationed in Greenland for the past 8 months, missing FH and wondering where the hell I'm going next.
SOOO onto the good news... First, i have 99 Days left until I get out of here YAY!!!
2nd... I have 8 days until I get back to WA to see FH and then he's coming to LI with me to plan the wedding!!
and 3rd... I think this is only half good news... my whole reason for coming to Greenland in the first place was to get to Germany. It was my dream and this was about the only way I could get that good of a next assignment. I've been WAITING forever to get my follow-on and I finally got it... and its not Germany
I was really pretty upset about it, and still am but they did give me one of the places that I attempted to go, so I'm going to New Jersey
I haven't told my parents yet because we think they're going to absolutely freak out with happiness and I can't handle that, but at least I'll be close to home, close to wedding planning, and close to my friends. I'm trying to see the bright side of things, so even though its not the assignment I want, we're going to make it work.
And for right now, I'm celebrating leave in a week and I'm under 100 until I move away from here!

I feel like everything happens for a reason! You get to come back to the states and I think that is great
Maybe you can get to Germany later on in life? Don't cross it off the list yet!

I know we still have plenty of time for Germany, but we wanted to get there before we have kids, plus we don't know how long I'll stay in.
Germany is probably the most popular base to get to, so its kind of like a reward. So pretty much for me taking such a crappy assignment as I'm in now, people get like their 1st choice. Everyone I know has gotten their 1st choice... I got my 4th. So my thinknig was man, if a year in Greenland can't get me there, is a year in Afghanistan worth it? FH says no

Yay for some good news and you'll def get to Germany one day. As a girl whose family is all in the military, I say Afghanistan is DEFINITELY not worth it.

speaking as the almost spouse at home during deployment, please avoid Afghanistan if you can!! Everytime his platoon has a casualty it freaks me out and throws me off for days.
