talk about inappropriately dressing to the church!

I met FIL and FH and FBIL at FHs parents house to go to FHs step cousins wedding yesterday

FBIL was dresses as such... Kahki shorts, a fireman Tshirt and flip flop sandals!!

i seriously wanted to hit him, i told him he could not wear that.. but he didnt bring anything else.. so we gave him a Polo shirt at least.. but he was still wearing sandals and the shorts.But it was def better than the fireman tshirt . WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!

for just going to the church in the summer i think khaki shorts and a polo is just fine. i wear sandals everywhere so i see no prob with that either.
i dont care what people wear to my ceremony as long as they come! it might be bc i have a friday wedding and i'm afraid no one will come.

did he change for the reception?

If that were my wedding, I definitely wouldn't like that! I mean come on, at least put a little bit of effort into what you wear if you're going to church or someone's wedding...JMO

the thing that bothered me the most was the FDNY tshirt. i think when you are in church you should at least look nice. I dont even care so much about wearing jeans or shorts. but and FDNY Tshirt? no.. thats not nice

yes he did change.. he had to get is suit dry cleaned that day and we had to rush to pick it up before they closed. haha.. but he did look nice!

EXCATLY good way to put it.. he puts no effort! he doesnt think! I dont think that people should have to go as they are going to the reception like in a fancy dress or full suit (unless its immediate family - like parents etc.. ) But a tshirt.. its just not appropriate - unless it has no writing on it.

Yeah, I think the writing definitely added a whole other dimension to it...

I can see your point. I would be happy just to have them show up but if you noticed people dont really get dressed up for church anymore. Some people have a different idea of what dressed casual is

yes def not to the reception. he dressed very well for the recep. I guess you had to see how he was dressed it was slobby and just not what i consider nice for church.. even if he was going to a sunday mass.

I've seen this a lot, jogging suits etc and then changing into their dress up clothes. I wouldn't do it myself, but I don't care what other ppl do as long as I can photoshop them out of the pics LOL

Totally depends on the parish. I cantor, and our parish is super casual (the pastor wears jeans and sandals and i've NEVER seen in in a collar) so maybe its just the vibe of that church. I wear jeans all the time. I'd look like an *** in a dress if Father steve is wearing shorts and flipflops.

Speaking off.... i went to mass on Sunday with FH and i saw this woman wearing a halter top i mean it looked like she was going to the beach

At least he changed for the reception and good thing you guys gave him the polo

yea, same deal, my church is very casual, everyone wears jeans and tshirts to Mass especially in the summer.
Sometimes the kids have bathing suits and shorts on!
I just think it's nice to GO to church, I don't really think God cares what you wear. You know?

But I can understand being upset that people dress like that at a wedding and 'ruin' pictures

yeah I defiantly wouldn't like this, but I don't really think any bride is looking at her guests when shes walking down that aisle, only at her FH! But i really think alot of guys dont think about this kind of stuff, thats why they need a woman to dress them

this is a pet peeve of mine
women wear halter tops and strapless tops to church

but i just sit and laugh at them bc my church is FREEZING i always wear long pants and bring a heavy sweater bc it is so cold in there!

oops i guess that is not very christian of me, but it is stated VERY clearly when you walk into the church what they feel is not appropriate and i feel that people should respect that!

no you are right.. im not going to be looking at what people are wearing when im walking down the aisle, but i just think that you should look nice. I think you can look nice in jeans with a nice shirt. Some other realives wore jeans and a nice colared shirt.

But this was his 1st cousin getting married. and he just looked like he didnt care and was sloppy wearing an FDNY tshirt.

I think it bothered me that he didnt even care.. like having his suit dry cleaned that day.

Maybe it just got to me more because he is going to be in our BP.. i told FH he had to pick up his step bro tux because i dont trust that he will
