talk about putting life into prospective...
This weekend was a bit of a shocker for me... while I had a great time trying on dresses and i got to have a girls night out at TASTE in Sayville,
We then got bad news that someone i as well as my family loves dearly...passed away....(Can't get too detailed because of lurkers and people not wanting people to talk about it.. etc...)
but this was someone who had been extremely close to me in my childhood.... someone who was definitely a ROLE MODEL to many! (me included)
and then slowly he started pushing away from us.. and not wanting to get together.... and sadly to say I haven't seen him in 7 years!!!! and now he is gone!! people in my family kept in touch with people in his family via phone.... but i haven't spoken to him in years.. and we never wanted to push the issue of getting together because we knew there was 'issues' going on in his personal life.. and we figured that sometimes you just need to settle everything
well.. we had no idea how SICK he was.. he didn't want us to know....
but he did request that we would be called upon his death... as people he still considered 'FAMILY'
I think that part of me was thinking that maybe 'MY WEDDING' would be the time that he would come around.... start getting back into the swing of things... and getting back into seeing us all! and sadly enough I was just thinking that about 2 weeks ago..... and then we got the call saturday a.m. after dress shopping.........
Way toooo young as well!
So i guess it just kind of threw things into prospective for me today, as I sat at the wake all afternoon.....'fight for friendships that mean alot, fight for the family members that you want in your life, don't just let time get away... don't just HOPE things will turn around... if you can do something about it .... do it.. even if it's a card that says... THINKING OF YOU.... or anything..... '
sometimes we wait for the person to make the first move..... and yet they may be waiting for us to do the same...... and then the move may never be made....
I learned a lesson this weekend... an unfortunate one.. but something that I wanted to pass on to you ladies....
