I placed the order for my dress today and the store said they are going to call maggie to ask about extra length...but I kinda want to make the ultimate decision myself b/c I don't want to have to pay extra for the length if it isn't necessary.
I'm 5 foot 8 and I'm wearing flats...so I'm really RIGHT on the border...did you order extra length? How tall are you? I really don't want my shoes showing or anything...that is one of my biggest fears lol

Re: tall girls
5'8' in flats shouldn't require extra length. I'm 5'6' and wearing approx 2 inch heels and I got regular length and when I tried on the gown it was perfect, maybe even a hair long. If you get extra length and don't need it that may require extra money in alterations and if it's a detailed bottom that could potentially mess up the look. I'd stick with regular length!
* ETA: my gown is a Maggie too.

Re: tall girls
I'm 5' 6 and one there was only one dress I tried one that I would have needed the extra length and it was clear when I put on the sample. But did you try on the sample? I remember you were having a really hard time finding one. Did they give you a price for the extra length?

Re: tall girls
i once read that dresses are made for people 5' 8 1/2' or something like that..if you're wearing flats you should be fine
im 5'6 1/2', and wearing 2 1/2' heels, so 5'9', and i didn't order extra length-i was also able to try on a sample of my dress in my size with my shoes on before i ordered it, and it was perfect

Re: tall girls
I'm 5'8' and had to order extra length for my gown. When I had the dress on I could see that I was going to need it and in my mind, better safe than sorry. Even after ordering extra length though I'm still having nightmares about the length not being long enough. Have them call the company and they should be able to tell you how much the extra length will add.

I'm not tall, but I think it would be best to order the longer length just in case. Better safe than sorry.

Re: tall girls
I had to order extra fabric b/c I am all legs. In the end, I think its worth it. And my extra material was almost $200 or $300 more! But my dress just fits better with it. And I have a SICK train!!!

Re: tall girls
I would call the desiger myself before placing the order. I am 5'10' and I didnt need extra length. I am getting a San Patrick gown and so i hear their dresses run long but i do remember trying on many many many maggies ( she was my 1st choice) and there were some that fit perfectly on me and if i had ordered i would not have gotten extra length

Re: tall girls
I'm 5'11 (maybe taller?) and didn't order extra length. I LOVED my dress, but I def. regret not having the extra length. Do whatever makes you more comfortable.

I want to say maybe FM Kristen (Kiki1103) I thiiiink I remember her talking about maybe ordering extra length because she's tall and then she was looking for shoes that were under a certain height... but then again I may be thinking of the completely wrong person...

Re: tall girls
I'm 5'8 and a half and I'm going to be wearing flip flops. I think that if you try on the dress with the shoes you plan to wear (or something like it) and it look great to you, than don't worry about the extra length. Your most likely going to be having to pick up your dress while your walking around, dancing, chit chatting with people so it doesn't get dirty anyways, so why pay for additional length.

Re: tall girls
i'm just over 6 feet and they were 10000% sure i didn't need it. such had better be the case when it gets here. but they called the designer to double check. she even had me come back in again to remeasure and be positive. i'd say call the designer and ask. can't hurt. in the end, the dressmaker & the alterations team will usually know best. things to consider here are if they have to take the dress in, its going to bring the length up a bit. alternately, if they let it out, you may have a teensy bit more length on it. i know this will always vary by designer, so your best bet is to just call and ask

Re: tall girls
I am 6 ft - so I definitely had to order extra length. My bridal store stated the height cutoff to order extra length is 5ft 8....honestly, I would order the extra length just to be on the safe side....

I'm 5'7 1/2' and my sample dress was way long on me and it is a Maggie. I don't think you'll need to order it...I'm wearing a 1' heel...

That was me! I am 5' 7 1/2 and I did not order extra length in either of my gowns, yes I have two. THe first one I almost did because they said 5 7 was the cutoff but I was fine in the sample and even had some dragging on the floor. I wound up getting 2 inch heels and told the second dress place this and they said I should be fine.

Re: tall girls
The dresses are made for someone who is 5'7' plus a 2 inch heel, usually. You should be fine. But do you want to take a chance with your dress coming in a being a little short?? I would get the extra length, just in case.
