Tan, self tanner, what are you planning to do? (w/poll)

hi LIW girls...just seeing what you plan on doing for your wedding. i would love to have a real tan but we all know how bad it is for you. so what about self tanner, if you plan on doing self tanner do you worry about it coming off on your wedding gown? if you're not worried about self tanning what kind are you using? thanks!!

I tanned for a week before the wedding and before that I did the spray on tan oh boy it was so funny I did it at hollywood tan and I came out all blotchy. It was fun to do because my sister and I went but I would never do it again. I was all different colors for my bridal shower right around my feet area and such. The girl told me not to do it near my wedding day.

probably both - i think i will tan once per week for several weeks before, and then a little self tanner in between to keep the glow up.

I need a little real tan, but i am not a fan of the potential damamge it is doing to my skin (wrinkles, melanoma) - I'm going to try to keep it to a minimum!

I do mistic tan all the time. It does rub off on white clothing even days afetr. I woud not do it for a wedding dress. Please believe me! But for bridesmades with dark dresses go to tropical rondevous in holbrook, hollywood tan is not as good! Good luck

I'm going to Glow Skin Spa for the airbrush tanning. A person actually airbrushes tanning cream on your body to ensure even coverage and good color. They even contour areas you want to look skinnier with the tanning cream if you want. I'm going for a 'trial' for it on Feb 10th (my first fitting is Feb 11th) so I'll post a review then. Many of the better spas have this service offered - I know Bliss does too.

I plan on going tanning -I used self tanner once when Iwas younger with a friend and came out all blotchy-so I'm afraid of self tanner now

I'll probably do a tanning package as well. I burn very easily, so I need some sort of base, if we plan on doing anything tropical for our honeymoon. I don't want to burn then!

I'm also afraid that any sort of self-tanners, airbrushing, spray-on tanner stuff will rub off on my dress.

Don't do that spray tan if you can avoid it. It came out blotchy when I did it for my friends wedding. My hands were so orangy and i took like 14 showers and it hardly came off...

yuck...$25 lesson learned

I will get a tanning package. Do not do the self tan as too many things can go wrong and then your stuck! ALso, for those girls who are tanning .......make sure you wear your eyewear under those lights!!!!!

i'm going tanning, i know its bad but i love how i look tan. Plus I want a base for the honeymoon.
I'll probably go 4 or 5 times, maybe once a week for the month or so before the wedding.

Plan to lay out the entire summer and maybe go to tanning salon a few weeks before.

Since I live in CA, I tend to be tan from March on but if I am too busy leading up to the wedding, I will go to a tanning salon. I am going to try it out next week for a trip to Mexico the end of Feb.

My skin is sooo damaged from living here. I religiously use 30 sunscreen but we are at the beach all the time. Even today we were laying by the pool-great in the winter but horrible for your skin...

Eogara, be careful! If you are getting your spray on the day before your fitting, couldn't it rub off onto your dress at the fitting? I don't have much experience with airbrush tanning, but it sounds like, from what the other girls are saying, that you might wind up with stuff on your dress and that would be horrible! Just wanted to draw your attention to this in case it hadn't occurred to you!

I'm going to get airbrush tanning done. For the wedding, I wouldn't trust going to the spray tan at Hollywood Tans since I've ended up with it coming off on my clothes before and sometimes with streaks. I had airbrush done before for about $80 at Paul Labrecque in Manhattan and the results were great. The best thing is that they can coutour to make you look more buff in certain areas like the arms and stomach Last time, it lasted for about 4 days with no streaks, no coming off on the clothes. I'll prbably get it done the day before the wedding in the morning since you're not supposed to shower for 12 hours after you get it done. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the heads up Deb! But this is different from the spray tan, which I do fairly often and would definitely not do the day before the fitting. But after the first shower this one is fine.
