Tanning Questions

I have never been tanning before..
Can anyone suggest a good place to go in Nassau?

How long before the wedding/ honeymoon should I go??

Has anyone tried the professional 'spray' tan?

I don't know anywhere in Nassau to go.
Depending on your skin type you may want to go about 6 times before the wedding. You can still burn in a tanning bed and you wouldn't want that before you get married. The people who work thee would be able to tel you more since they do it all the time.
As for the spray tans - I hear some people love them and some hate them. I have heard that if you plan on wearing your hair all pulled back, you have to wear a cap so you will have a line unless you don't go too dark.
Good Luck

I did the cream application tanning at a spa. It was great. I went 1 month before to test it out. It settles in nicely after about 2 days.
So I had it done again on Wed. night before my Sat. wedding. Although I didn't look very tan, I'm normally very pale.

be careful with tanning salons for your wedding!

My FH's cousin went tanning before her wedding. It was very hot on her wedding day (August), she was sweating and the tan came off on the inside of her dress! she was heartbroken

That is my biggest concern.. I am def. leaning towards the actual tanning beds for that reason...

Re: Tanning Questions

for it to work well, i would go 3 times over 5 days, unless you burn or tan too easily. any time i spread it out too much, i never see any real results

Mine is around the same time in early September and I'm just going to tan with the sun..it shouldn't fade by then...or will it?

I guess it depends on your dress. I was originally planning to do the same thing until I realized I had to be very careful of tan lines. My dress is a halter top.

A tanning bed tan CANNOT wipe off! what may have happened is that she used a bronzing lotion. They tend to 'wipe off', but usually after a shower it is not an issue.

Sorry, but that is silly to think that it could wipe off. Your tan from the sun cannot wipe off, can it? No. It is the same thing, but with artificial light.

If you tan 2-3 weeks before the wedding, you will not have an issue with burning, unless your skin is ultra sensitive/fair.
If you squeeze in 4-6 sessions, you will have terrific color. Best of luck.

i am the tanning queen . i actually had an annual membership, which i cancelled after two years because i finally decided to take better care of my skin. once in a while is ok, though, and i definitely went tanning for my wedding! here's my advice:
if you're fair, like me, go on the super bed, that costs a fortune but gives you plenty of color and doesn't have burning rays. when i haven't gone in a while, i go for 5 minutes the first day, 8 minutes the next day, skip a day, then ten minutes on the fourth day, skip another day, twelve minutes on the fifth, and 12 minutes on the seventh. you should have plenty of color by then, and you only have to go once a week to maintain it. do't go within five days of your wedding, though, because you may get a leathery look. good luck!

I thought it was a little strange too, but that's what she told me.

she said that her cleaner said he got it all out but then preserved the gown, so she doesn't even know for sure if the stains came out. and since it cost her $400 for the whole thing, she's not about to open it all up.

Re: Tanning Questions

Hollywood Tans is a perfectly fine place to go -- not too expensive, clean, and they have salons all over the place.
I've gone there for a couple of years -- just to get 'base' tans before going on vacation and stuff like that.

Good things to know before tanning:
1. Be careful the first few times you tan -- depending on your skin type you will likely get a little burned -- especially in those areas that don't usually see the sun. Tell the people at the salon that its your first time so that they will give you a minimum of time.

2. take care of your skin before you go -- exfoliate and mosturize -- you don't want to peel.

3. buy eye protection -- the goggles only cost a couple of bucks.

If I were you I'd get used to tanning at least a month before the wedding. If you don't have any tan it would take a couple of times to build up some color and you'll want to give yourself a couple days off between tanning.
