Tasting at your RH

Tasting at your RH

Hello ladies!
I went to a showcase at my RH a few weeks ago and I can't stop thinking about the yummy food they had samples of and I can't wait to do my tasting. My question is, how do tastings work? Do you tell them in advance what you want to try? Are you allowed to bring your parents? I'm sure it varies a little from place to place. Thanks!

They gave us the menu of the food we will have and we each got to pick a meal, we all got different ones so we could try them all. We we told to bring our parents.

for ours, we are going to go in for an official tasting sometime around March (I think that's when we need to pick the final menus). I have already tasted their food at a showcase of theirs and I loved it - FH still has to taste it! I think they arrange for you to come in the day there is an event going on (obviously before the event occurs) and you can taste some of the cocktail food being prepared that day and maybe an entree that is being served that day. I need to get the exact details when we bring our next payment in but I'm pretty sure that's how it works. I think we can also bring up to 4-6 people with us which is nice.

Our hall told us that we would have a tasting. They only have the tastings every few months, so they called us to see if we could go to one of them. When we went there, they had some cocktail hour stuff out and some passed hors d'oeuvres on the table. They brought out some pasta and salads for us to share. Then they brought out three entrees - one chicken, one beef, one fish - for us to share. All of the menu items were pre-selected, we did not get to choose anything,

i think it depends on your hall ... my hall allowed FH and I to bring 4 extra people (6 of us total) but we only got CH foods, no actual dinners.

apparently, about half the halls give full out dinners and the other half give only cocktail hour foods.

anyway, even with just CH food, it was still amazingly awesome

We just went for our tasting last night and we brought our mothers.

We went into their Restaurant to eat since it's the same chef. We were told what items on the menu were the same as the options we had for the wedding. We had a full four course meal and each got a seperate item so we could taste our options.

We now go to our menu appt this Friday.

I've only check out a few places so far and this is the info i have for you:

Douglaston Manor has 'public' tastings on the first Thursday of every month. You have to call in advance to make an apt and i believe its only for you and your FH.

Colonial Terrace does private tastings and your allowed to bring how many people you want (within proper limits). They are very family oriented so they want you to bring your parents. You pretty much call them up and schedule a day to go.

I haven't had the time to go to either yet, so i can't tell you how it was structured,

Good luck!! Which RHs are you looking at?

I'm getting married there. They don't do the tasting until 4-6 weeks before the wedding,. You have to tell them in advance what you want to taste - only 3 choices.

My RH sends out a formal invite to a tasting a few months in advance. The tasting is actually held in the ballroom and each table is for each family (so my assumption is I could bring up to about 10 people with me). The tasting is designed to flow just like the wedding itself and therefore there are full portions and servings! We start with appetizers and so on! So your entire family/friends that come with you can order something different and pass around and taste to decide what we would actually want to put on the menu.

I called our hall to schedule a testing about a year after we booked, 4 months before the wedding. Since our hall offers different menu options, they had to pick an evening where those guests where getting the same menu as us. It was DH & I, MIL & my parents, so 5 in total. My hall wasn't thrilled about so many people but when I explained why they where okay with it. (DH is very picky & my mom doesn't eat much either.)

They served us about 10 items from the CH, then a pasta & two of the three entree choices.

At Bridgeview we have to go when there is a wedding and we can only taste what the bride and groom chose for that night.

Mine was awesome. booked priovately. We could have 6 people all together and we had a few CH selections, a salad, one of each entree choice (and more) for the table and dessert tray.
