Tastings: Before or After?

Tastings: Before or After?

What is your hall and how was the tasting--full dinner, appetizers? What can we expect? Thanks bunches, do you just ask or do most offer a tasting??

We actually tasted the food at one of their showcases and that finalized the decision for us. My FI would have never booked a place without tasting the food. In all fairness his sister tasted the food at a place she was holding a party and at the tasting it was good and that day the food was disgusting.

I was very impressed with our tasting. We had it about 2 months after we booked. We were not overly concerned since we heard so many good things about them. But we were able to bring up to 4 other people (we brought our parents). We went on a Saturday afternoon, so they were preparing for a wedding that evening. They set us up in a private room with a dining room table and brought in a large platter with a sampling of appetizers and main course. They pretty much left us alone to taste and discuss amongst ourselves and checked in periodically. Afterwards, we saw the place set-up for the wedding which was just arriving as we were leaving.

I know for a fact that SUnset Harbor does tastings on Tuesday. We booked them that night and they were the only place we went to. they day of our wedding everything was great!

we booked w/ the option of canceling if the food was not to our liking. fortuntaly, everything was great. it was the first time my parents had seen the hall (we booked w/out them) and they were happy. so all in all, i think the tasting is important! good luck to you!

Re: Tastings: Before or After?

We had a private tasting with food brought out from a wedding that was going on at the time. It was a Saturday night in the summer so I thought it was a good indicator of what the food really tastes like while all the craziness of an actual wedding going on. I wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea of a completely private tasting where the chef cooks basically just for that occasion because, well, of course the food is going to be extra good! So I liked that the fact that we were able to taste the 'real' food.

We tasted everything, hors d'oeuvres appetizers from the cocktail hour, hot and cold, all the main entree choices (our site offers a choice of 6) salads, pasta stations, carving stations, and side dishes.

We did not have a tasting cause i was confident of the hall's reputation of outstanding food and service or else I would not of booked them to begin with.

I was wondering the same thing. I think I am going to wait & bok them anyway. I am going on their reputation.

We had ourtasting at Chateau La Mer and they gave us a full appetizer and a giant tray with 7 different dinners on it that everyone we brought with us would share, ie: stuffed shrimp, chateau briand, etc. And a sample dessert tray. All was very good!

We also went to a tasting at Majestic Gardens and that one was a full cocktail hour. We knew they had a good reputation for food and thought it wasn't even necessary, but we're glad we did because we were very disappointed in the food there and that was our deciding factor not to book there, even with their reputation.

I had my wedding there too! We had always heard so many good things about the food so we didn't really have to worry about it.

we had a full tasting from the cocktail hour through dessert. I would def not book any place that did not offer one unless I had tasted their food at another event(i.e. - someone else's wedding)

Our Hall does not do tastings. I was a little unsure about booking them but read a lot of good reviews. Needless to say I booked them.

I haven't been to a tasting, but plenty of friends and family members have been there, and they all say the food is great. Thank God. Otherwise, I'd have a big problem.

We did a tasting before we booked and that's what sealed the deal for us.
