A few girls at my job commented on the fact that I don't plan on covering my tatoo with makeup the day of the wedding. Its an angel on my back I really never thought about covering it. To me I have tatoos for reasons that I don't think I should have to explain.
Anyway in the chruch I will have a wrap so it won't be showing. Do you think that I should have it covered with makeup?

Re: Tatoo question.
In my opinion, I would..I don't know if I would want to see them in my pictures 20 years from now. Personally, I don't like when I can see a woman's tatoo in a dress. I don't like seeing a guy's tattoo in a suit either..

Re: Tatoo question.
I know many brides who didn't cover theirs, even if it was a big one on the arm or something. As long as you have the okay from your officiant, then why bother? Mine is on my ankle so my dress will hide it, but I would not be using makeup to cover it. Everyone knows I have one so there's no point in hiding it.

Re: Tatoo question.
karen,
eric and i were just talking about this! i think you should keep it as is. you have it for a reason and if you show it other times, why should this time be any different. mind you, i am speaking as a person whose whole family has multiple tattoos!! so i might be biased! please, if my aunt could wear a strapless gown on my cousin's wedding day that showed her butterfly tattoo on her chest, you can show yours!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!
i am sure you will get alot of opinions on what to do, but ultimately it is your decision.

Re: Tatoo question.
Personally - I would cover it, but that's my opinion. I have a small tatoo on my ankle, so it will be covered anyway - but if it was on my back - I would cover it. As you said, you got your tatoos for personal reasons which you do not have to explain to anyone, so it's really hard to give an opinion on it - but I would cover up. My sis - who is my MOH has a really big one on her back which will show and she is going to cover it. Are you concerned though? Your post makes it sound as if you're not - but I am curious whwy you are asking our advice - are you still thinking about changing your mind - or do you just want to know what we think!

Re: Tatoo question.
I have 2 tattoo's on my back, and wore a strapless dress. Yes it's who I am, but I think a bride looks much nicer with them covered.
I got Dermablend & JN covered them, you could never tell I had tattos at all~

Re: Tatoo question.
Leave it. I have 2, one on my hip and one on my ankle, so they probably wont show but if they did I would leave it. Like some other people said, it is who you are. I don't see what the point of getting a tatoo is if it is just going to be covered up, unless it is something offensive. Also, sometimes a 'covered up' tatoo can look worse than the actual tatoo (caked make-up, showing through, not matching your skin tone). Too much trouble to go through. You will have enough to worry about on your wedding day!

Re: Tattoo question.
I have 3 tattoo's. One on each ankle and one on my hip. If i had a tattoo that showed I would cover it up. yea its who i am, but i dont want a tattoo showing on my wedding day. 20 years from now i dont want to be saying wow i look beautiful, but that tattoo just stands out.
I would cover it

Re: Tatoo question.
I have a very big colorful butterfly on my right shoulder and I will be covering it for my wedding. I love the tatoo I just do not want that to be the only thing people focus on when I am walking down the aisle or I am dancing my first dance. JMO

Re: Tatoo question.
If the shawl is going to be covering it all day and night.. I would leave it.. I agree with the girls that say cover it... there are some beautiful shots that photographers can take from the back or that might have your tattoo showing... It won't be that bad in color pics, but think about your B&W pics... if it is a darker tat. it might stick out like a sore thumb! Good Luck!

I would leave it. I have 2 tattoos, one on my ankle and one on my shoulder. The one on my shoulder you will see but the veil will be covering it up so it won't be that noticeable and anyway I get that tattoo in memory of my father after he passed away. I figure, if I didn't wan't people see it, then I wouldn't have gotten there in the first place. I am not ashamed of showing it off.

Don't cover it. You won't regret seeing it in pictures 20 years from now, or else you wouldn't have gotten it in the first place.

I say leave it. It's you!
The one you can see of mine are: one on my shoulder of roses that form a heart & a butterfly in my inner ankle (the inspirations of my wedding theme)

Re: Tatoo question.
I don't know if this helps, but I was in a wedding where the 2 MOHs added crystal temporary tattos- it looked great ( their sister, te bride approved first)
I was in RK Friday & saw a bride try on a dres & it didn't look right with her tattos, b/c it sheer netting on the back & sleevs but you coudl sort of see the tattoos, but htey were sort of covered. I was wonderign if she was goign to cover it with make up.
I think oif your dress shows it completely & it looks intentional, then leave it. The shawl in church is a good compromise.
You won't have too many pictures from behind. And if it were soetmhign you regrett or have grown tired of, then cover it- but you like it so show it. At least its an angel & not a blue m &m , like my friend has.
