so my best friend since second grade is going to be one of my BM's but she doesn't know it yet. trouble is i'm worried about her tattoos on her chest. i'm not sure if she'll offer to cover them up or make a big stink about it if i ask her. i plan on having strapless gowns and i just think that they would really stick out. what do you guys think? am i out of line to ask her to cover them up? should i bring it up as i'm asking her to be my BM or wait until after?
p.s. her tattoos are two swallows (birds) facing eachother on each side of her chest.

buy her a wrap to cover those things up! j/k. Are they really big birds or just tacky looking?

Re: tattoo cover up?
How about you say something like it's not that you don't like her tatoos, but you think they might draw too much attention, so would she mind covering them up if she decides to be a bridesmaid.
I know I'm probably not wording it right,...but I'm thinking of maybe some way making the decision hers...if she doesn't want to cover them up, then she could decide not be a bm?
did that make sense? (Cause I have to say I'm confusing myself!!!!)
i thought maybe a halter could cover them..but i'm not sure.

Re: tattoo cover up?
from my experiance, that might be a little tacky to ask her to cover them up. my cousin did this at her wedding.. and lets just say it was not taken well by my family. in fact it still upsets a lot of my aunts and uncles that she would ask someone to cover up a tattoo... in my opinion its just a tattoo, and its not like theyre all over her. people are not going to be staring at it, theyre going to be looking at you, the bride! i wouldnt worry about it to much.

Honestly, if I were her and you asked me to cover them up, I'd be offended. She must like them since she put them on her body, I think it would be kind of mean to ask.

Yea, I am in a similar situation. I too have a bridesmaid with some tattoos. I am not saying anything to her- I think it's totally up to her.
Your friend may want to cover them on her own. Is your friend's name Kristina by any chance? I know a girl with the same exact tattoos... But yea, she can always get them airbrushed if she wants to. And, if she doesn't want to cover them- it's her choice- her body.

Re: tattoo cover up?
My cousin has a tattoo that I would rather be covered either by her dress or hair. It's not a big deal, though so I don't think I would say anything.

haha no her name isn't kristina...i mean she's been friends with me for so long and my whole family knows she has tattoos so its not like going to shock anyone really...that's not even what i care about...more about pictures...i don't know...i'm not even sure if i really care...she might even just bring it up herself.

Re: tattoo cover up?
You know- the photographer can airbrush the tattoos out of the picture... They are able to do all that. You might want to consider that.

Re: tattoo cover up?
Personally, I think tattoos just become a part of the person..so I wouldn't want any of my BMs to cover them, because it wouldn't look then 'them'..then again hers are big and it is kind of a focal point... it's a sorta touchy subject but if your close enough with her she really might not mind...is there anyway of casually bringing it up to see how she feels?
If not, a photographer can def. airbrush it out w/ no problem...it just might be a little odd when she looks through your album and see's it..lolz...

Re: tattoo cover up?
I have a BM who has a big tattoo [but it's on her back]. She has really long hair and she told me shewas going to do half up and half down which should cover it.
It bothered me at first but then I got over it, but Ican understand it bothering you. Personally, I would not say anything as she might be offended but I would:
1. Try to find a dress that might cover it 2. Have the photographer touch it up in photos
Good luck!

Re: tattoo cover up?
she can have them airbrushed. some brides do airbrushing for make-up anyway. i think it's fairly normal for people to hide their tattoos for a wedding.

Yea, I thought of that. What if she did see the album and saw that there were no tats... That would be weird and may hurt her.

Re: tattoo cover up?
Why dont you consider getting a dress that is more, like, closed on top for them?
I can't explain it but like, perhaps a sweetheart top thats taller ? lol
