Re: tattoo HELP!!!

I can't really help - I was going to say that I got a rash on my last tat from the guy pressing down too hard on the razor - shaving around the area. He acted like I was a hairy beast! LOL

Maybe some Aveeno lotion? Can you call the artist and see if s/he has any suggestions?

Maybe you can take an antihistamine (sp?) like Benadryl, Claritin, Allegra...I wouldnt put any topical ointment on without consulting with the tattoo place first. I dont think an oral antihistamine would adversely affect the area. Although these meds are usually used for allergies, they also help alleviate itchiness with some rashes, such as hives. It may help!

I was told NEVER to put A&D on a tat- it encourages scabbing which makes it itch... I used eucerin- or any highly concentrated, thick Vitamin E cream... I had VERY quick heal time and no real scabs..

it is a rash, but i didn't put any type of ointment or anything on it since last night and it is not very itchy today and the rash is going away. i think i got the rash because when i put the a&d on, it would go on the waist of my pants and it would irritate my back. do you think i should still go to the doctor to be sure???

The absolute BEST lotion to put on a tat is Nutrogena Norwegiean hand cream. Its almost like an ointnment when it comes out of the tube. And it's nutrogena so you know its not some crap ya know? Thats what I use, I use reg antibacterial ointment the 1st 3 days (generic brand) then I use the nutrogena. Try it its the best best best!
If it would really make you feel better than go tto the Dr. You just might not feel better about it till you do (as least that the kinda person that I am..) Also don't let this discourage you about tattoos, just know not to go to that artist again. They should instruct you fully on the aftercare of tattoos, a reputable artist would.
