FH and I got tatoos of eachother's name when we were 18. A lot of people told us not to but it's what we wanted to do. 6 years later we don't have any regrets about it. He has mine on his right shoulder blade and his name is on my lower back. Both totally concealable when we want them to be. It in no way marks me as his 'property' it's just something we wanted to do for our own reasons. To each his own.
It's not for everyone but to call them 'tacky' or 'cheap' is harsh. Keep in mind some people might get offended by statements like that and the 'IMO' won't change that.

I have three tattoo so does my fh. I wouldnt mind getting his name. We already have matching ones . Mine says 'His ' and he has 'Hers' we got them when were only going out for 2 months!!!

For the past year and a half I have going to sessions to have my tattoo removed. I am 28 and now and I did it when I was 18. It is on my ankle and looks very inapropriate for my office job. Just make sure it is somewhere you can cover up if you get one. The removal sessions are very painful- I have had about 8 and still have several more to go.
ETA: I have no problem with tatoos on other people- it's just not for me anymore.

I have a tattoo on my lower back. I wouldn't get another one because it hurt too much, nor do I regret my decision. However I do not think they are cheap or trashy. It is a personal decision and may not be right for everyone. I don't think that it is approrpiate to pass judgement on a person for having one.

ok i have my ex's name tattooed on me BIGGEST mistake of my life i am having it removed FH and i both agreed that it is the kiss of death to do that every single couple i know that has done that is no longer together. We decided to get matching tattoos though we are debating between the chinese symbol for love or the yankees emblem
