Approximate take home if you get the 1 time payment:
$144million / 2 = $72 mil
$72 mil - 48% gift tax = $37.5 million take home ...
That's a very loose calculation ...
Now what would you do with $37.5 million dollar? hmmmm

From what I understand, if you take a 1 time payment versus an annuity it ends up being like 1/2 the amount of the face value of the win.
With an annuity the lottery keeps a bulk of the money and invests it making money on it, so the $144 is what you'll receive in over say 20 years.

I was doing a lump sum lotto ticket. If you took an annuity it would be different.
