We just found out our taxes went up! I gues we expected this, but I was trying not to think about it. Now we are in the 10,000 range! argh! I hope this whole prison buiding thing never happens. They say our taxes will rise dramatically!

It is insane. My mom is in GA and one of her neighbors who lives on the water was paying $75/year for many, many years and is upset because his taxes are going up to $400/year!! My parents pay $800/year for 1 acre. Their taxes actually have gone down! We are paying $4,800/year now but it looks like mine are pretty low compared to everyone elses!

Excuse my ignorance, but they're going to build another prison in Yaphank???? They already have a minimum security facility out there .. so would this be a second one, or a new one in place of the existing facility????

Yes, it's been on the news quite a bit. They estimate that each prison cell will cost upwards of $300K each...I guess somebody has to foot the bill.
Well, that settles it for me. I am going to look into purchasing a prison cell. Finally something on LI in our price range!
Are these LUXURY cells? Why are they costing so much? It ***** that the taxpayers have to deal with it. I don't understand construction costs at all.
