Taxes -- has anyone grieved them?

We have already received a couple of letters from accounting/law firms to represent us in grieving our taxes.

Has anyone done this w/success? Do they ever raise your taxes instead of reduce them.

Yes, we did it and got them reduced by 1,000.
My DH knows much better than I do on how it works but I tink it will show up on next years tax bill. We had to pay her something like 300 or 400 to do this, she said if she couldnt get them greived she doesnt charge us.
I tihnk it was worth it though,

Who did you use?

We've been advised to have this done as well. My understanding .. your taxes can't be increased through a grievance.

If anyone has someone they'd like to recommend .. I'd appreciate it!

I just got something in the mail from the Town of Hempstead that you can grieve your taxes yourself, I wonder how involved it it. In my case I'd have to grive village taxes too.....

I'll call the town when I can and find out what is involved, I'm working on getting some recommendations too on who to use if doing it yourself is too time consuming, I will post when I find anything out.

No they didnt come to our house. The lawyer did everything at town hall form what I understand, I have to ask my DH what her name was, I forgot, if anyone wants this info FM me,
it was very easy and painless, and saved us 1k
