Alice's Tea Cup (W. 73rd) Sarabeths (there are a few - at least on on upper east and another on upper west)
If you are interested in a Japanese tea:
The Tea Box at Takashimaya on 5th ave. Toraya (E. 71st)
I don't know if any of these places has a private room, though, if that's what you're looking for. I've been to Sarabeth's for brunch and lunch - definitely very nice and 'cute' - v. appropriate for a shower. I've also purchased tea from The Tea Box - a beautiful place, but it may not be what you're looking for.
