Tea-length BM dresses for May evening wedding?

Is this not appropriate? It's not black tie or anything but it's a church wedding (reception TBD at the moment). I haven't picked MY gown out yet but I know I am doing a simple ivory satin sheath with maybe a detachable train.

in my opinion tea length is very in style right now, I think it would look fabulous!

thanks Christy. I can't wait to just pick out my dress already so i can get on with it. The only reason i ask is b/c i've only seen it in pics for a daytime ceremony or wedding. And I told one of my friends in passing what i was thinking and she was like 'hmmm. for a night wedding?'
so that made me hesitate.

Bah! To me, that sounds like the 'you can't wear white after Labor Day' garbage. Do what you want to do! Tell the style police to stick a sock in it.

I think it's totally appropriate and very elegant - original too...

I love that length for BM dresses, but you might want to pick out your dress first and then order their's to make sure they go together. We all have the perfect dream dress in mind and almost all of us purchased something different. JMO

I plan on using tea length for my July evening wedding. At first I had the same concern, but I love the look, so I'm doing it. The only thing is, I haven't found much luck finding a huge selection of tea length dresses, so far, I've only seen one by Jim Hjelm, and one by Watters & Watters in a store. On the david's site, they have two or three, but I think they look more like party dresses.

well i believe etiquette says that tea length is reserved for daytime and full length is more appropriate for evening. that's why you'll see fashion mags only have them in daytime pics. but i believe that nowadays ppl do whatever makes them happy. if one was to follow etiquette then most of us wouldn't be able to wear white or veils

I agree with bride-to-be... But I think its more important to do what make YOU feel most comfortable and happy. Especially b/c this is YOUR day!
I love the new tea length dresses...especially the new Waters and Waters (Ivory w/ flowers) one and another one Jim Hjelm (plaid) put out. I just couldn't pull it off!

I love tee-length dresses, but I am also of the opinion that they are better suited for daytime weddings. For an evening wedding I prefer the look of a more formal gown. That being said, if you just love the style and don't care about it being formal, GO FOR IT!
