I have a question. First my dress place screwed up my girls dresses (color was wrong, fixed that before they were ordered but they ordered the wrong size for 2 girls). Mine is perfect but the girls left a bit to be desired. Now with that said here's the story. The girls are wearing tea length dresses. I was origonally told that they would measure 15' from the floor to the bottom of the tallest girls dress (with shoes on) and cut the rest of the girls dresses to match her dress. This way in the pictures the dresses form a straight line across. Now they are telling me that they are not cutting any of the dresses and that they never said the dresses needed to be hemmed. Won't it look like a roller coaster in the pictures. So which is it supposed to be? Are the dresses supposed to just not be hemmed or are they supposed to hemmed so they form a nice straight line in the pictures? Oh and the seamtresses told be they should be hemmed but now the dress shop workers are the ones saying they shouldn't be and realeased 2 of the dresses. Thanks for any help

Re: tea length dress length
they are supposed to hem the tallest girl first, and then do the rest of the girls so that each hem is the exact same distance from the floor, as you were orignally told.

I personally think that is up to you. I didn't because I wanted the dress to lay about the same spot on each girl. Mid leg. They didnt have to hem them, but they weren't a straight line as you said.

Re: tea length dress length
For my sisters wedding we wore tea length dresses and are different rnge in heights. We didn't get any of the hems altered to match the tallest girl, and it looked perfectly fine.

I don't think the hems need to match the tallest girl...what would you do if some of your girls are OOT or something? I'm having tea length dresses and one girl is in Germany, the other in NJ..so no way to coordinate that really.

hmm, ive never heard that! id want the bottom of the dresses hitting each girl at the same part on their body-mid leg as LyseeH posted, not an even line all across. then wouldnt some girls potentially have a super short dress and others longer. lol i dont get it. oh well.

Re: tea length dress length
I wore a tea length BM dress a few years ago and we didn't hem any of them. It wasn;t a straight line in pictures but we were all happy with it.

Re: tea length dress length
COuldn't havng a straight line potentially look weird on some of the shorter girls? Unless their heights differ by only an inch, I'd be nervous that the dress wouldn't look right on the shorter girls. JMO,,,good luck!

Re: tea length dress length
My BM's will be wearing tea length dresses and I will have them each individually hemmed so that they fall 10 inches from each of the girls ankle. You can't really measure it against the tallest girl becuase then some girls would be wearing a mini dress and others an evening gown.

Re: tea length dress length
I would think that they should fall the same place on every girl, so they all are tea-length.
