Re: Teacher Salary
actually, all districts differ when it comes to salary, both in Nassau and in Suffolk. I've interviewd at schools where the salaries ranged between $44,000 and $56,000....both with the same amount of experience and level of school.

Re: Teacher Salary
Like palebride said, they vary drastically within each county. I work in nassau and have seen the same starting salaries as palebride mentioned for a master's level teacher.

they do differ quite a bit... i teach in a lowe rpaying school district and could be making at least 10,000 in certain districts.

Re: Teacher Salary
why can't the salaries be that high where I am in VA. I would be a teacher in a heart beat.

In northern va they're not too far off (about 40,000 for a bs, 45 for a masters).
I'm teaching in shenandoah county, and i'll be starting at 36,100 with a masters... however, my rent is probably about half of what i'd be paying for a comprable apartment up in northern Va, so it evens itself out.
ETA: the dc area is the place to be right now for new teachers since loudoun and fairfax, and a few others, are in a salary war.

Re: Teacher Salary
It really depends on the district. My brother started in long beach right out of college with no masters classes over $50. My sister had some masters classes and now works in Kennedy High School (Bellmore Merrick) and started over $50. I however started in the 30s in Suffolk. GO TO NASSAU, though there are some higher paying districts in Suffolk... Focus on Nassau IMO Good Luck!

Re: Teacher Salary
These salaries are amazing. In NYC right out of college no masters start at 39,000. It used to be 29,000. I currently work in the NYC system and would love to get a job here in Nassau. I just moved here from Bklyn and would love a shorter commute. I hear its extremely political here especially in Long Beach. Is that right LB teachers w/o masters start at 50,000?
