My husband and I are planning to visit his family in Florida this Christmas. I know it's a bit early to think about this, but the air fare is a bit cheaper the earlier you book. Anyway... the last day of school is usually the 23rd of Dec. Has anyone ever taken off from work the day before vacation?? I have never done this, and I know the the BOE looks down on that. You think they would let me take off the day before vacation???
It all depends on the district, how lon gyou have been there, and how many days you normally take during the year. some districts aare a lot more forgiving than others.....
I've been there 3yrs., and I hardly ever take off. I've been out sick once this whole year, and twice last year.
I did that this year. FH and I drove to SC and I needed an extra day for travel. I asked my principal about a week ahead and she approved my personal day. Normally I would have asked earlier, but we made the decision last minute.
It depends on the school. If you're in NYC and have a good relationship with your principal I'd just ask him/her. I don't know when the city schools will start their x-mas breaks in '05-06. The way the holiday falls, we may only get a week, but I am really not sure.
