TEACHERS!!!

Re: TEACHERS!!!

Well they must have changed the Queens option because when I was looking into it a few years ago, there were only schools in Brooklyn and The Bronx that you could apply to. Two of my cousins had the same problem and just decided to do their Masters on their own.

I do agree that its alot of work though, FH is teaching right now and going for his masters and he barely has time to breathe....he loves summers off but once september rolls around its craziness all over again

Thanks for the info....do you know if it's only for certain subjects? I remember it was only for Math/Science....I just got my BA in Italian and have been sending my resume to private schools to teach, I have 17 education credits and had a bad school during my student teaching and decided not to follow through with it....I still want to teach but I won't be certified until I complete my student teaching or work in a private school for a year....I would consider the Teaching Fellows bc I still have to do my masters....if you have any other info please let me know

It has changed over the years. Right now I think there is a big focus on getting more Special Education teachers into the Fellows. And I'm pretty sure they still hire for Math and Science.

I need this vacation - my students, who I usually love have driven me up a wall these past two weeks. Not that it is much of a vaca - the FH and I are vendor visiting and my BM and I are dress shopping.

UUUHHHH this is really annoying!! In NYC we still have a FULL day tomorrow and WE DONT HAVE OFF MONDAY!!!! I am sooo jealous of you long island teachers...

Dont be so jealous Christine, I hear some parts of Long island are letting go of some 40 new teachers. NYC doesn't let us go...we just get excesed, but we still get paid.

OMG how I wish I had went to school to teach....I was just talking about it last night to FMIL saying how I dont think emergency response is my thing anymore. Infact its depressing-oh well gotta make money though right?

Donna - I know exactly how you feel! I am a teacher and I feel exactly the same way you do.

But on the flip side - I'm happy to have some days to rest - Have a great few days those of you who are off.

I don't have off today Thats private school for you. But at least I have off tomorrow and Monday. And I don't have to go to ABA home hours tonight since their school is closed

But about that letting go of 40 new teachers...is that true. I teach in a private school on long island for disabled children. But I know the public schools is where everything is at...money, pension, etc. But I am so torn now as to whether I should start putting my resume in for a public school on long island. I do not have to deal with ANY BS now at my school. Hmmm...its a hard decsion.
