Ok, so I already wrote a post about my FH's parents allowing us to use their timeshare for our honeymoon. We do not know where we will go yet but there is a problem. I just graduated with my degree in English Secondary Education. Right now, I am on sub lists and waiting to get called. I start a leave replacement position in March. I don't know what I am doing in the summer besides maybe my current part-time job. I am hoping to get a full-time teaching job in September. However, FH and I had originally planned to wait to take our honeymoon on spring break. I was going to wait and see what district I was in and then plan our honeymoon for the next break after our March 28th wedding. But, I am told that with timeshares, we need to book this right away. Should I book it and then ask for time off at a new job? Should we just postpone our honeymoon for a few months and book it for the summer? I need some advice, please! Thanks!

Wow! Thanks for all of the advice! I pretty much knew that I should not be asking for time off, but after hearing all of the answers I am positive that I should not take any chances. I thought I might be able to plan for when most districts seem to have that break, but if it changes for 09, or I ended up in a district that had a different schedule, I would be screwed. I would like to do what some of you said and plan a 'mini-moon' and go to a bed and breakfast for the weekend. We are getting married on Saturday afternoon though so I am not sure if it would be much of a vaca. Anyway, I will definitely wait for the summer to book my honeymoon but one of you got me thinking about summer school! I forgot that I do not know the schedule for that and I would like to try to teach that but everything is so up in the air right now. So, wish me luck!

Me too....I have a week before the wedding and a week after the wedding before summer school starts. We may take our HM in August after summer school is over. But we have this weird timeshare thing, too, and I can't figure it out. I'm really stressed about it. How does your timeshare work?
I am not sure how ours works yet! We just found out that his parents will let us use theirs and I am so excited and grateful. I told FH to find out the details as soon as possible so we can start figuring it out!

P.S. I did think about planning a summer wedding for this reason like most of you said, but the prices just seemed so expensive. We tried to do a holiday weekend or weeknight, or day wedding but in the summer, everything was over our budget. Even for dates with prices we thought we might be able to swing, it seemed like the day/time would be too inconvenient for most of our family members. Oh, well. It will all work out!
