I will be a teacher by Sept 2010 so FH wants to get married before so we can honeymoon before I start teaching.
My ?? is how did you work out the honeymoon or did you just get married in the Summer? I don't want to get married in the winter so during winter break is out for me.
TIA

Re: Teachers getting married
I have been teaching for 6 years. I am getting married in July 2010 about 3 weeks after school is over. It is enough time to finish up the last minute stuff and not freak out too much with the end of years stuff. Most of the teacher I work with get married in the summer or over school breaks. One of my friends got married the a week before school started and took her honeymoon the next summer (she went to the summer olympics in china) I think it really depends on the amount of stress you can handle. It also depends on how the job market is then because you may not have a job in june or july and you might need to around in august to last minute hires and new teacher orientation. I hope this helps if you need any more info fm me.

Re: Teachers getting married
i will God willing become a teacher in september of 2010 also...we are getting married end may and honeymooning til first week of june
this way, no interference w/school, and the only thing ill have to be aware of is possible interviewing, final interviews, etc, before the 09/10 school year ends

Re: Teachers getting married
I've been teaching for 2 years and im getting married end of July 2010, then going on the honeymoon right after... coming back with a few weeks before school starts so it's timed out perfectly... i didn't want to get married during the school year because i wanted to have some time to come back and relax, but do what works best for you

Re: Teachers getting married
We're getting married on 2/13/10. The following week happens to be Presidents Week and we're off. We may go away for a few days but the real honeymoon will be over the summer. Either a Mediterrean Cruise or Italy and Luxembourg. It's going to be a 2 or 3 week thing, so that's why I can't do it during the school year. I think it's totally worth waiting for. Besides, it will give me some time to save for souvineers! LOL

Re: Teachers getting married
We're getting married in the summer because not only did I not want to have to do place cards etc in the middle of the school year (the last month of school doesnt count lol) but I wanted to be able to go on my honeymoon right away. We also plan on buying a house right before the wedding, and I want to get a puppy the day we get back from the HM and have time to train him before I go back to work!

Re: Teachers getting married
I'm getting married in the summer because I always love the summer and will be able to work on completing last mintue things for the wedding without worrrying about work. I know alot of people who do get married in the year and go on the hm right after or wait for a break or the summer. If you do this, make sure you have enough days in your bank though.

Re: Teachers getting married
FH and I are BOTH teachers, so we decided to get married in July. We both wanted to take our honeymoon right away, so that's what worked for us.
If you don't have a job yet (which I assume you don't, since you're not graduating until 2010 ), then I might think about when you're taking your honeymoon. I got both of my jobs (I've switched schools twice) in the second week of June, based on interviews in the last week of May/beginning of June. That is when schools usually know what their openings will be. I'm sure if a school really likes you youcould just explain thatyou're just going on your honeymoon and they'll be fine with it, but it's just a thought. You'd hate to come back from you honeymoon to like 50 messages about interviews you couldn't have gone on.

I'm a teacher and we're getting married over Memorial Day weekend. I'm gonna take some extra days off and go on a mini-moon. Then in the summer we are going to go on our real honeymoon

Re: Teachers getting married
My FH is a teacher, we are getting married August 6th and then going on the honeymoon a day or two later for 10 days... so he will have a week or two before school starts.

Re: Teachers getting married
I have been teaching for 3 years...and always knew that I was going to have a summer wedding b/c of my summer vacation...so I chose July 31, 2010...b/c it is exactly in the middle of the summer...I have time do things b4 the wedding and still be off from work and enough time to enjoy my honeymoon before I go back to work.
