It depends on what you are looking for. Some of my friends are teachers in the 'best schools' listed and all they do is complain about it!

Re: Teachers Help -- What are some of the best school districts on LI?
i am blessed to work for Herricks. not only are the schools filled with beautiful children, supportive family and a community that truly supports their schools, i could not ask to be in a better place: the administration is wonderful, my colleagues are consummate professionals, and my principal is second to none...
that said, most school districts on LI are good... the ones named in the previous posts are the ones that are among the highest property tax rates.... high taxes don't always mean good schools... and good schools don't always have to be all the rich ones on the north shore. 95% of schools on LI are good quality... you have to look at many factors. if you're buying a house, look more at just the 'name' of the district...there are many other things besides a name and high taxes that equate a good district. as a teacher, i'll be the first to tell you that those scores from the state tests printed in newsday don't mean diddly. and if you're a teacher lookign for a job, honestly, take what you can get! don't be too picky... it's tough out there!
