Teachers, how do you...

Teachers, how do you...

I've been doing major sorting/cleaning of all my boxes of teacher stuff that I just jammed in our storage area weeks ago.

I wanted to know HOW do you guys store all your bulletin board signs/letters/little decorations? I had a couple of those 3 fold cardboard things, but everything slides out. Everything is just all mismashed & there's no order to anything. HELP!!!

I use the long boxes for charts. I also put decorations for my room in a box. The boxes I use nothing slides out of. Let me see if I can find you a pic.
For bulletin board letters, I put each set is a gallon-size Ziploc and they stay in my filing cabinet in my classroom.

it is a hard job to stay organized. especially if you switch grades. i bought a box at the teachers store for sentence strips and one for bulletin borders. charts are unfort. rolled and paperclipped. i don't have too many letters because i use the sentence strips for my blurbs. i put my name on EVERY book and for the library books that are mine and not the schools, i put either a star or a dot (from staples) on the spine and cover with tape. I have resorted to binders for a lot of stuff. i cut out ideas from magazines and punch holes in them and put them in a category in the binder, such as monthly activities, arts/crafts, math, literacy, etc. from magazines like scholastic and teaching k-8. and for books, i bought about a hundred dollars worth of tupperware or rubbermaid storage bins. keep in mind for books that it is better to have lots of small bins that are the 12 gallon size than it is to have 4 60 gallen tubs.

FH came home from work last night & was like, 'what the hel l happened here?' I had stuff everywhere! I had to empty all my containers to see what I even had to start to organize it.

I'm fairing pretty well, just down to all my decorations/bulletin stuff.

I feel like this too

it's hard because you are not always in the same spot and i you ever move, you're screwed. and when you retire??? the class i am going into in september has EVERYTHING because the teacher retired and left me EVERYTHING, which is both a dream and a nightmare. I'll have everything i could ever need but i have sooooo much to go through.

I put all the small stuff into baggies (I find it works well with letters and stuff). I will often put in the letters right off the board and write on the bag, ex: Literacy Word Wall, so I know all the letters for that bulletin board are in there. Then I shove it all into a box!

I do the same thing, except I put everything in the back of the filing cabinet.

I use the three fold storage for my borders, but I rubber band them together first. I try to keep the bulletin board stuff organized by the month I would use it.

I have a problem organizing too!! If you saw my apartment right now you would die! I am in the middle of switching schools, so I had to bring home ALL of my school stuff, and I can't move into my new school until the middle of August!! Between all of the school stuff and wedding stuff, there is no room in my apartment!!!
