Teachers I Need your Advice Please

I have an interview for a TA position. Now I don't have any certifications and I'm planning to go back to school next year. They know this already and want to meet with me. I have a resume but its not based on being a TA or anything remotely close to it. This is where you all come in...WHAT DO I DO????

Please FM me with thoughts

TIA

Claudia

Write down any experience you have at all working with kids, and not working with kids. They want to meet with you for a reason, highlight any skills that you have (language, sports, etc) Good Luck!

before you even start the resume, i'd make a list of everything that you could possibly list on it, then you can pick and choose and facy up the wording later.

-first list everything you've done with kids (tutoring, teaching, day care, camps, etc.)
-then list all other jobs you've had, esp ones with responsibility (when writing it in your resume, you can relate it to childcare. ie - 'office manager: responsible for the smooth running of operations, in charge of many people and numerous projects' can mean you have a knack for large crowds and multitasking -> good classroom management)
-list any skills you have related to childcare, multitasking, the ages you've worked with, if you've ever worked with kids with special needs, etc.
-languages you may know (esp if you're bilingual)
-any kinda volunteer/community service that could be helpful (ie i volunteered for my town's ambulance, not only does that show dedication and a commitment to the community, it's shows i know first aid in case something might happen)
-list if you're 1st aid/CPR certified
-and of course your education

my resume is set up in the followin manner (and it got me my teaching assistant job, so hey! )

*Name (in big bold letters)
*Contact info
*Profile - says a little about you, committed to kids, child oriented, experience with kids, maybe add in your desire to continue down this path
*Education - college or high school, degree (type and what in), and date recieved
*Skills - ages worked with, specific subjects worked in (ie tutored in reading and study skills), special teaching styles (multisensory, etc), anything special you have experience with (ie - i have experience with special needs kids and inclusion)
*Languages - if you have any
*Work Experience - obvious, add a little blurb next to it of your duties, and remember to bring out the skills that can be useful in a classroom (multitasking, first aid, responsible, teaching (even if it's teaching a program to your office mate), and anything you were in charge of or that was especially assigned to you.
*Internships and Volunteer - do the same as ^ in bringing out usefl skills.

hth a bit, if you have any questions feel free to fm me
