My union rep sent me an email today that Bush declared 1/2/07 a national day of mourning for President Ford, and we might, just might get the day off!
as much as i would love an extra day off, it seems awful to excited about the possibility.

Re: Teachers: January 2?
I did not hear anything. I teach out east in the Hamptons, and my students definitely need as much time as possible to get ready for the ELA. Also, if we miss a day we will have to make it up later on down the line in June or over Memorial day, and I don't want that!!

I never heard anything about that, so I doubt Long Island districts are closed
