Teachers: January 2?

My union rep sent me an email today that Bush declared 1/2/07 a national day of mourning for President Ford, and we might, just might get the day off!

as much as i would love an extra day off, it seems awful to excited about the possibility.

I teach at Boces so I wouldn't be off unless ALL the districts that come to us were off.

I work for the Federal Govt so we definitely get off. When Reagan died, same thing

I know my mom works in a school district and didnt get off when Reagan died, and isnt getting off on Tuesday.
If you didnt get off then you probably wont now.

I don't think I am getting off. . .. i work at a dsitrict on LI--- seems doubtful. and it seems weird that the city would close---the city school system is not a federal entity.... plus the city NEVER closes... they didn't close during the transit strike, they didn't close through the 80 blizzards we had 2 years ago---seems weird that they would decide to close for President Ford.

That would make my day if I did not have to go back on the 2nd! I highly doubt that my school will close though. One can only hope.... hehe

Re: Teachers: January 2?

I teach 4th and I have to say, i think the kids could use an extra day off too. their poor little brains are friend from all the kaplan bullshi*t! If they dont know it by now....

LOL, and I am thinking about all the days that i trek down the city streets on the ice because the residents of my schools block dont shovel, ever. also, about how i get to dig my car out of black snow at the end of the school day when all i want to do is go home, but i got plowed in!

yeah, I guess my union rep is just wishful thinking!
