I asked my class and surprisingly they want penpals to write to... I have 5th grade, in a Catholic School in Farmingdale... 20 kids. If anyone is interested please let me know!!!

Re: Teachers look for penpals?
When I am not working or when I am not surfing I write to several of them. I have gotten a bunch of responses. Just a suggestion, why dont you split the class up and put the letters in a big envelope explaining what you are doing. Maybe if oyu ask them to spread it amoung their platoon they might. This way when you get a response it is not for half the class it would be for the whole. Or what about tryinga seniors center, or the VA hospital. Not sure on these two but anything is worth a try. If you or someone has a family member/friend overseas, ask them to give you a school name and you send a letter first and explain what you are trying to do with your class and maybe you can get a whole class to repond to your class on a more individual basis.
Another suggestion instead of getting penpals for your class how about have the class write questions to the soldiers and make one big letter to them and you can read it to the class and then maybe have them repond individually. With pictures or cards and stuff

Re: Teachers look for penpals?
Hi, I'm a teacher also (teaching 3s though this year). I've used the following two sites in the past when looking for penpals for my 2nd graders. They only go up to 4th grade, but are located all over the US (first one). Second one are all classes.
