teachers: when is your honeymoon?

teachers: when is your honeymoon?

I am a college professor. I really want to go on my honeymoon right after the wedding, but I don't think I can miss that much school. Should I just wait until the semester is over or try and get the whole week off?

I am a sub for a few school districts and I am either going away on my honeymoon either the week after the wedding or go away presidents week when the kids are off from school.

We planned our wedding around summer vacation, so it's right after the wedding!

I have been toying with this too! I am teacher, but live out of state, so we have to travel to Li to get married. I really want to get married and then take our honeymoon, but that almost seems like it would involve more travel because after getting back from our honeymoon we would then have to drive home to Maryland. So...I don't know what to do!! Some teachers in my school have told me just to take my honeymoon right away and not worry about missing work, but all I can think of is all those sub plans I would have to write!!! I've thought about taking a mini-moon and then doing something long in the summer when I have the time to travel...I don't know. What your thoughts on this ladies?!

In your case I would prob do the mini-moon thing. I wouldn't want to stress about hauling all the wedding stuff and honeymoon stuff across state lines, and then worrying about how the stuff you're not bringing on the honeymoon gets back home.

my weddings 2 days after school gets out for summer so I will go away sometime after that. THat was one of the reasons I tried to steer clear of random weekends because a week is okay but months to wait for a honeymoon is no fun

Both my FH and I are teachers which is why we booked our wedding for July. We both knew we wanted to take our honeymoon right away and we couldn't do that during the year. I am a self-contained special education teacher and wouldn't want to leave my kids with a substitute for that long. It's better for us for the summer so we can go away stress free and return with a few weeks off before September.

I did the same thing. I'm a special education teacher for children with autism. I wouldn't be able to leave them for a long period of time to go on a honeymoon. We decided to get married during the summer so we could go right away!

FH and I are either going to take out honeymoon during my February break or in June when school gets out.

We are even toying with the idea of going away in December for Christmas break but we aren't decided on if we are ok with missing the holidays with our families. We have some time to decide but it's definitely been on my mind.

I don't think we've talked about it! lol I work in Brooklyn in a district 75 school. I commute in everyday from Suffolk. I teach children ages 11-14. Which DDI do you work in? I would love to work a little closer to home and thought about applying to DDI. Do you like doing the home services?

I guess the mini-moon does make the most sense at this point, I just hate to wait so long to take a long relaxing honeymoon. Any brides have any good suggestions for a mini-moon?

I am waiting until the school year is over.
We are spending 2 nights in the bridal suite at the Hyatt
as a mini moon.

agreed. FH actually wanted to go in to the city and be tourists in our own city. Doing all that cheesy stuff we never do and staying in an expensive hotel; taking taxis, etc. Maybe we can do that for a 'mini-moon'.
