how long after your first teaching job did you go to your next? i ask b/c i am a city teacher and want to work towards my g credits to go up the salary step but i have so many questions.
1. if i go for my 30 or above in the city and don't complete them, can they transfer?
2. if they don't, how long does it typically take to do them?
3. where do people go for those credits on the island?

Re: teachers who moved to another district...
I am in the process of trying to get out too. I think those credits transfer if they are through a college/university. I didn't do any credits in the city because I was afraid they wouldn' ttransfer.

Re: teachers who moved to another district...
I taught in the city for 5 years. I received two masters and all of my credits transfered towards my new district on long island. I believe as long as the credits are within a degree program they will transfer. FM me if you have any questions.

Re: teachers who moved to another district...
I have a friend who just transferred... she lost all of her inservice credits, but all of her graduate work (can be random classes she took but were for graduate credits, not part of a specific program) transferred.
From what I understand, this is typically what happens... but don't take it as a rule.
Good luck!! Danielle

Re: teachers who moved to another district...
I just mean that I think all districts are different... but anyone I have ever heard of has kept their graduate credits, including ones they took not for their masters, but they lost their inservice credits.
You might be able to negotiate, but I think usually you lose the inservice.
