Teachers.....do you think schools will be on a delay tomorrow?

I don't think so, but I also think the roads are still a mess. A lot worse than they SHOULD look.

Private school girls, do you get sick days? We don't. It really stinks.

My district has only had 1 delayed opening in the 8 years that I have been there! But you know what I don't mind, I am so ready to be out of the house!!!!! Happy Monday!!!!!!!

i only get 4 paid sick days but i guess its better than none. i already used one up so i have 3 left. this is my first full year teaching and so far i haven't gotten sick-sick. i mean i do get colds here and there but nothing major and i am around 5 year old all day that cough and sneeze all over the place. i've always heard that the first year of teaching is tough because you're not immune to all the germs and stuff. so far i have been lucky!

junebride, I would give my left pinky toe to have some sick days. Although, I showed up for work a few weeks ago and was REALLY sick, so they sent me home and I still got paid, so I guess that counts.

I haven't been lucky enough to find a teaching job yet, but I have been a T.A. for 8 years. I get 3 personal days a year and because I have been there so long, I get 120 sick days a year.

You get 120 sick days a year or you have that banked?

I have been with my district 8 years also and we get 10 new sick days a year plus of course what we have banked. I have 82 days. (We got 10 bonus days when we had 50 banked)

swags, unfortunately, I am a wind player and completely lost with string instruments I'm a chorus teacher now, and even that is complicated compared to wind instruments I know that string teachers are in demand right now. Wish my brain could learn more about strings!

We aren't allowed to bank our days, so each year, I lose what I haven't used but get another 120 the following year. Of course we get evaluated at the end of each year and it looks bad if we use many sick days.... last year I only used 2, and I took my 3 personal days for my honeymoon plus 2 unpaid.

I am serious this woman looks like the crypt keeper from Tales of the Crypt and they kids HATE her. She is sooooo rude and they are dropping out of orchestra like crazy and it is soooo sad. I hate to see them lose their instruments this early. They are so important and she is sooo mean to them that they the orchestra goes down 50% in 8th grade because of her!

Sounds like our band teacher swags, only he is young and MEAN. MEAN MEAN MEAN. No one wants to take band anymore. tHey are down to a pathetically small group. I would LOVE to teach band there. Oh well

Our band teachers are great so, I don't think that they will be leaving and we have a new chorus teacher (she came in the fall of last year after the other one quit) and she is amazing!! But this one! Yuck she is even so rude to the teachers. When my Grandmother passed away in March, I came in the next day because the service was in Florida and I asked her to excuse my students from lessons because I was giving them a class project to do while I was away and I needed them there to explain it to them. I said she could take them any other day-- she told them NO! Can you believe that, I have a death in the family and that is not good enough for her! I and many other teachers will not chaparone the concerts anymore because of her!

Unfortunately, her attitude is TYPICAL of music teachers and musicians alike. It gives the good ones (like me ) a bad rep!

we get 12 sick days a year, BUT you have to earn them. for every day you work you earn 'minutes' towards a sick day. so working for 3 weeks will get you 1 day. if you are out sick or on disability, you do not accrue time towards a sick day.
