Teaching Fellows - I made it through to the Interview phase!
I didn’t doubt I’d at least get to interview, but I am still happy to know I made it.
For those who are in the program or who were accepted but didn’t go into it, any advice you can give me for the interview process would be greatly appreciated! I did it once but my nerves got the better of me and now I want to be better prepared…

Ok, I remember from when I did the lesson, I had already been teaching in a classroom for over a year, so it was a breeze, but I saw people who were trying to cover an extremely broad topic and they totally blew it. What level and subject are you going to do? I did music for elementary. I did a lesson on the board with the lines and spaces of the staff and had hand outs where they had to put their finger on the line or the space while repeating a rhyme to remember it. It worked perfectly and I made all of them get into it and say it out loud. It was great! My advice is to really see the people in the room as children, it makes it so much easier.

I am planning to try for Early Elementary, Special Ed Reading. I have no clue what sort of lesson to do!

It does not have to be related to what you actually want to teach. I chose music because that's what my education is in. But you can do anything. You could do fractions with a pizza wheel on the board. Keep it simple, REALLY simple because those five minutes or whatever you get go really fast!
