For the teens on your guest lists - are you inviting them with dates?
I guess my FMIL is having prom - envy or something, because she wants to invite the teenagers with dates. She keeps drilling my FH with comments like - no one will dance with out dates. I usually pull him aside and tell him its not a square dance - and therefore teenagers don't require dates.
Just curious what other LIW ladies are doing.

No way. Not to sound materialistic but there is no way they'll know to cover their dates. Plus, I'm probably having 10-15 teens, there's no way they are bringing a date - I never got invited with a date when I was a teen.

I'm not inviting any teens, but if I did invite any I don't think I would invite them with a guest.

I am with you and the other ladies on this issue. I was NEVER invited with a guest to a wedding when I was a teenager. And teenagers dance with each other!

No dates for teens.
Though I was invited as a date when I was a teen b/c I was with the guy for 1.5 years at the time of the wedding.

I agree with you- this is a wedding, not a prom. Tell her if she wants them to bring dates, she can pay for them.

no dates.
The one exception I made is for my brother (15) and his girlfriend, because she is practically part of the family.

We invited anyone over 18 with a guest - surprisingly many have RSVP'd as a yes but with no guest. Go figure.

See Im torn b/c I was invited as FH's date to his aunts wedding back when we were Jrs in High School. I was honored to be able to be with him and was even included in the pictures.
My deciding factor woudl be is they are dating...not necessarily just a date for the wedding but I would have to already have been aware of the bf/gf

Re: teens and dates (my FMIL strikes again!)
thanks ladies - my FMIL did say she would pay for it - but its the control part that I don't like. We are paying for most - just to retain control. She is extremely nice - but very controling, and she gets excited easily - so everyone gives in to her because thats just how it goes. She gave me her list of people to invite before we were engaged, and it caused a lot of problems between me and them and me and FH. But she didn't see that - she just knew that she doesn't want to hurt other peoples feelings - teens included.
Since then I have completly left her out of planning. Just recently I gave her an inch - we took her to get the tuxedos, and I went over the rehersal dinner stuff... and she started to take the mile - suggesting that teens have dates for dancing (keep in mind the caliber of the teens she is inviting is, well, questionable - I just don't want them passed out on the floor of the bathroom - like they did last christmas in the FMIL's house) Then she suggested that since my church is being difficult, we switch to her church (keep in mind - the invites are ordered) because she 'has connections.' ......with who? God???
thanks again - no teen dates!

Re: teens and dates (my FMIL strikes again!)
If they are older (17-20) and I know they have a girl friend, I am writing 'and guest'
I know that when I was 18, I was going out with FH and if I didn't get an invite that said 'and guest' I would have been upset.
