teens and dates (my FMIL strikes again!)

Original post by Ronkonkomonga

For the teens on your guest lists - are you inviting them with dates?

I guess my FMIL is having prom - envy or something, because she wants to invite the teenagers with dates. She keeps drilling my FH with comments like - no one will dance with out dates. I usually pull him aside and tell him its not a square dance - and therefore teenagers don't require dates.

Just curious what other LIW ladies are doing.

no way! the way teens date and dump each other w/ every other breath ... why pay/invite/have pics of someone who isn't going to be around in a week! just my opinion.....

unless they are seriously dating, i would not invite anyone with guest. i am not even inviting my 30 year-old friend with guest because he is not seriously dating any girl!!! let alone a teenager just so that they have someone to dance with!!!!!!!

i did but i only had two cousins who were in that catagory there so i gave them the option and neither brought a date.

we dont have alot of teens. my cousin who is 20 i told him he can bring one. i guess if you have a lot of kids if they bring a date it adds up. can you afford that ? i know i couldnt.

If they are older (17-20) and I know they have a girl friend, I am writing 'and guest'

I know that when I was 18, I was going out with FH and if I didn't get an invite that said 'and guest' I would have been upset.

we did the same, 17 and older, we werent worried about them not being able to give a gift, we had 3 teens with dates at the wedding, and all 3 of the teens parents actually gave a gift for their kid and date. Which was totally unexpected.

If they are 18 or older and in a relationship then yes.

I actually had DH's aunt call a few weeks before the wedding asking if her Daughter could bring her boyfriend ( I think she is 17 or 18) we said of course and DH's aunt MORE then covered all of their plates.

The only teens invited are two of FH cousins (boy and girl)--and NO, they are not invited w/ dates.....matter of fact, all they do is just sit in the corner at every family function and look REAL, REAL excited to be there.

No one under 18 has been invited to our wedding, but if I did invite them I wouldn't invite them with dates.
