Hi everybody...my mom is interested in having her teeth whitened and I was wondering if it really worked, how much it will cost and what you'd recommend. She was wondering if BriteSmile was worth the money and was told it was $500. Thanks...

Re: Teeth whitening
I'd recommend the Crest Whitestrips. They're much less $ (like $25.00) and they work within two weeks. The only problem DH and I noticed was that they made our teeth very sensitive. I've never had professional whitening done, but I would imagine that the process would also cause some degree of sensitivity.

Re: Teeth whitening
I'd recommend the White Strips too. I had whitening done years ago, and it did work well, but it was expensive, and you have to maintain it with bleaching trays and gel - nothing works forever.

My DH had the same complaint, and he hardly talks at all! I think it's a design defect.

Re: Teeth whitening
I did Crest Whitestrips before my wedding and it was AWESOME!!!! They cost about $30 in Walmart, and every few Sundays there is a $5 off coupon in the paper.

Re: Teeth whitening
Also, the light whitening system that dentists use made FH's teeth very sensitive - he was in actual pain for awhile. I've heard from others who didn't have the same experience, but for him, it was really unpleasant.

Another vote for the whitestrips!!!
I also did the Go Smile that I found in Sephora. It was about $100 but also well worth it!!!

Re: Teeth whitening
I used the Oral B Rembrant Whitening strips and they were great too!! But you want to get the 7 day one which is around the same price as the Crest....HTH

Re: Teeth whitening
I just whitened my FI's teeth tonight. We used Rembrandt 2 Hour White. It's $20 and so worth it. We've tried everything, including the Crest Strips and Rembrandt Strips, which work but not as quickly. The Rembrandt Strips bothered our teeth and the Crest Strips are very flimsy.

Re: Teeth whitening
I agree that strips work and are cheap but they take time if teeth are ver discolored. FH had his teeth whitened by Brightsmile last year and it's great cause it works in just one visit. So i guess it depends on how much time you have, and how much patience you have.

Re: Teeth whitening
One more thing. If you go with bright smile, you can usually get a $100 coupon if you go online.

Re: Teeth whitening
I really wouldnt bother with going to the dentist. I went and it worked, but Crest Whitestrips work just as good for me and are MUCH MUCH cheaper. I swear by them!

Re: Teeth whitening
I just got my teeth whitened about 2 months ago and only spent $350. I am not sure the area you live in, but there is a tanning salon in Holbrook called Del Sol (631)588-2244 that has a licensed hygenist that comes in. It's called ZOOM!! It worked great and the price was excellent compared to dentist offices and Brite Smile.
Hope this was helpful, send FM if you have any questions.

I second the crest strips....i worked for a dentist a few years ago and tryied the $500 one and it made my teeth so SENSITIVE it hurt to breath! so i threw the stuff out! the Crest strips make you teeth a little sensitive but if you do it first thing in the morning BEFORE brushing your teeth it's not so bad....

Re: Teeth whitening
I was also going to sing praises on Crest whitening strips! My FH doesnt have dental, so his teeth were never that great - the strips made his teeth sparkling white!!!
My gums got a little whiter, which was weird, but other than that, I am loving them!!!
