tell me how many months in advance did you send out your invites and why?

we are thinking about a Thanksgiving wkend wedding.

Im mailing mine out in late april for a june 1 RSVP. I need to give the cruiseline my final count 45days before my wedding

Some of the wedding sites indicate 3 months from your wedding date. I am sending them out 2.5 months before with a rsvp date of April 1 for our May 1 wedding. Allowing 6 weeks for rsvp.

My planner said about 2 months in advance that way guests have about a month to respond but there are people wont respond within a month

We mailed ours out 3 months in advance - we had summer wedding & knew people would be making vacations plans - so we wanted to 'book them' for our wedding before they 'booked' their vacation...

I would like to send my invites out the first week in Feb. with a March 15th RSVP date.

Mine are going out on Wednesday 1/13/10
My RSVP is 2/23/10

My final count deadline is 3/10/10

My wedding 3/20/10

so just over two months before.

I sent mine out about 2 months before. Mid October and my wedding was Dec 26

we sent ours 2 months beforehand
our rsvp date is january 14th, but we are don't give our final head count on february 3rd
we didn't send them out earlier bc we sent out save the dates
make sure you leave room between the rsvp date and the final count

Definitely 4 months in advance. I send mine out 3 months in advance (My wedding was in May, I sent my invites out in January and the RSVP date was April). You want to give your guests time to respond to you and also if you have B list guests this will give you time for them to respond also.

i have it laid out like this:

invites sent out: sat april 3rd
rsvp date: sat may 8th
wedding: sat june 12th

For a holiday weekend wedding, you should definitely send out invites earlier rather than later. I'm getting married on July 4th, so I'm sending out save-the-dates a yr before, and invites 4-5 months before.
