My future brother-in-law's wedding was yesterday. I was asked to come early for pictures. The wedding started at 1pm but pictures were at 10:30am. My fiance' brought me to where all the woman were. I was in the room for next to the room where the bride was. My fiancé's mother decided to stay with me. I was there for 5 minutes and the bride's mother said to me 'Jen would like you to go downstairs with the other guests this room is only for the bridal party' (her name is Jen also) I replied ok. But her aunt who wasn't in the bridal party was in the room and that was ok. I was so upset because why would you want me in your pictures if you don't apparently consider me family to be in that room. Am I wrong to feel this way?
I found out why the bride did this to me. Because at the rehearsal dinner I made a joke of why did we have to be there so early for the pictures and it upset her. How immature can some people be??????????????

Re: Tell me if this is rude
That is sort of rude. Actually FH's brother got married last August. We were not engaged at the time either...but they told me to go into the Limo with the bridal party after the Mass. So I did and they even said to come into the bridal suite with them all....and I found it a little odd since I mean I am not super close with FBIL and his wife. But they were very sweet and asked me to be in some of the family pics (cause supposedly at the time they knew FH was going to propose so they felt as if I was family).
But I was told by an aunt of FSIL that I didn't belong in the room. And the Brides mom (FSIL) told me to stay and ignore her haha
sorry that that happened to you. I don't get that either....

I think it was rude and BIL mother should have said soemthing. Cause if they asked you to be there for pics then you shouldn't have been asked to leave. DId you tell FH? What did he say?

are you close with the bride at all? does she have any issues with you? maybe she was jealous cause FH's mom was with you instead of with her -- and she didn't like that?

I am not close to her at all...just hung out with her a handful of times...i thought it might be that the mother was with me but FH's mother said it more to that...i thought that and she told me it is more...I just want to know if she has a problem with me...

i'm sure it had a lot to do with feeling like you were 'stealing' the FMIL away or something. its childish -- but she was having a bridezilla moment i'm sure.
if there's 'more' to it that ppl aren't talking about, i'd be careful at pulling at that thread. cause now she is married to FH's brother and she can cause drama when its your turn.

Yes, rude! You are marrying the groom's brother. You ARE family!
FIL have always treated me like family and I have always been included in everything that FH has been involved with (sitting up front for weddings, funerals, whatever) So maybe its just me and I am super sensative to that, but if FHs brother was getting married, I woudld be piss*d if the his FMIL said that to me. Some people are just rude.
Besides, you are one person. Its not like there were a bunch of people there. Im sorry she was a biotch to you.

That is why it upset. It was 10:30am there were no other guests there. They wanted me to go to the lobby and sit by myself until they were ready for me. Thank god we had a room. I went in there and just lost it

Re: Tell me if this is rude
rude? maybe. i think it depends on the entire situation. if it happened to me i would DEFINITELY be upset, there is no question about that. you have every right to be hurt and angry.
But maybe her aunt is also her Godmother, or something like that. Maybe she was really stressed and freaking out and didnt want to do it in front of you. We will probably have FBIL's girlfriend in some of our wedding photos but neither of us can stand her, so there is no way she will be hanging out in the bridal party room... not because i don't like her, but because i would not be comfortable getting all emtional or upset in front of her.
you said you're not close to the bride... so maybe it was something like that.
it *****, but she is family now, so try not to let this be one of those things that affects your relationship with the couple for the rest of your lives.
